What's your thoughts on team selection? should he go with a weakened team to avoid injuries? personally I think he should put out his best team and go for the win.

3-1 Bolton.

It'd be nice to reach the 3rd round, and get a money spinning big name out of the hat, so we should be taking this seriously. I reckon we can do them 3-1.
Another nice home tie in the second round and we're nearly there.

I think it's important to keep the winning streak going and I know Hill has pushed the players to try to get fitness levels up to speed so I reckon he should field all the first team apart from those carrying slight knocks (rather than risking them which he did on Saturday) and fill in the gaps with people pushing for those places. 
Reckon we should win and progress although for the first time in ages we must be favourites - and that's dangerous.

I was just thinking to myself that on some level this is a must win game. We have a bit of momentum and self-belief at the moment and losing to a L2 side could throw a spanner in the works. That said, I expect us to win.

Being a Devon Bey, I hope we smash the Cornish mugs.

We have played Plymouth only once previously in the FA Cup. A 4th round match in 1934-1935, winning 4-1 with goals from Milson (2), Westwood and and Own Goal.

Match Preview: Bolton Wanderers vs. Plymouth Argyle

Wanderers welcome Ryan Lowe’s Plymouth Argyle on Saturday afternoon for an Emirates F.A. Cup clash at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Plymouth Argyle currently sit 13th in the Sky Bet League Two at the time of writing and they have won two of their last five home league games.

Their last fixture in the league against Exeter City ended in 4-0 away defeat.

Team News

Wanderers still face a lengthy injury list at this current time, with more than five players unavailable for selection.

Jake Wright came through the full 90 last weekend, with Thibaud Verlinden also starting the game against the Pilgrims.

Wanderers and Plymouth Argyle have faced each other on 29 occasions, with the Whites coming out on top in 15 of those clashes.

The last time the two teams met was in January 1993, in Division Two.

He has officiated 12 matches this season with his latest a 0-0 draw between Port Vale and Oldham Athletic in Sky Bet League Two.

In the professional refereeing ranks, Lewis last refereed a Bolton Wanderers fixture in February 2016, where Wanderers lost 3-2 against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Key Man for the Pilgrims – George Cooper:

When looking at the Plymouth Argyle side, 23-year-old George Cooper is the main man leading the line for Ryan Lowe’s side.

The midfielder has got three assists in Sky Bet League Two for the Pilgrims and is an influential member of the team.

On loan from Peterborough, it is clear to see why Posh signed the midfield maestro to a three-and-a-half-year deal in January 2018 for an undisclosed fee.

Report: Bolton Wanderers 0-1 Plymouth Argyle

Bolton Wanderers bowed out of the Emirates FA Cup at the First Round after Callum McFadzean early strike gave Plymouth Argyle the victory at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The midfielder put the visitors in front after ten minutes with a powerful strike past former Pilgrims’ loanee Remi Matthews for the only goal of the game.

Manager Keith Hill named a strong XI making just one enforced change from the side that beat Fleetwood Town a week earlier.

Sonny Graham came in for Thibaud Verlinden who was left out at the request of Stoke City to avoid him being cup-tied.

Wanderers got off to a bright start and looked sharp. Joe Dodoo broke down the right and created space with a smart stepover before curling his shot wide.

A couple of minutes later and Josh Emmanuel drilled a cross over the face of the Plymouth six-yard box with Daryl Murphy unable to connect.

Daryl Murphy chased down ‘keeper Alex Palmer and almost nicked the ball off the shot stopper who only just managed to clear the ball away.

But complete against the run of play, and the visitors found themselves in front.

The goal inevitably sprung Plymouth into life and then almost had a second when Matthews made a good save to keep out a Danny Mayor effort.

Another fine save from Matthews kept out Joel Grant’s low drive which looked destined for the bottom left corner.

Matthew made an even better save when Byron Moore latched onto a loose backpass from Daryl Murphy after the Plymouth forward found himself one on one with the Wanderers gloveman.

A big chance came for the hosts moments later when Emmanuel found Darly Murphy at the back post who in turn nodded into the path of Dodoo. The forward was unable to wrap his foot around the ball and the chance ebbed away.

Palmer then managed to block another Doodoo effort after Luke Mutphy teed up his team-mate.

Plymouth survived a massive handball shout when Luke Murphy flicked the ball against what appeared to be the arm of a Pilgrims’ defender.

Five minutes after the restart, Palmer was once again in the thick of the action and thwarted Dodoo by tipping a volley over the bar after latching on to Graham’s cross.

The hard working Chris O’Grady forced Palmer into another save after picking the ball up from distance with his back to goal and charging towards goal before unleashing a goalbound strike.

Chances were few and far between for both sides and Plymouth managed to hang on to the slender victory to put themselves in the hat for the next round.

Anyone know how much money/transfer kitty we lost out on by not progressing to round 2?

£36 grand apparently.
£54 grand for winning the 2nd round and £135 grand for the 3rd round.
All in all handy money for replacing Verlinden, Wright, Bridcutt etc if/when they go back to their clubs in January.
