Back to league action and possibly a few of the injured players returning, this is our chance to get onto plus points, so Hill should go for this big time, and show the rest of the league we are no pushovers anymore.

3-1 Bolton.

I reckon we can win this as well. MK Dons are really struggling and our form is much better than theirs.

2-0 to the Super Whites!

Yes, we need these three points,  it's so important to get onto a positive points total.

We've still got plenty of games to play and time  to get the points needed for our survival in League One.

The performance has got to be a lot, lot better than the Plymouth game and I can't think of a better incentive than playing another bottom 3 team and hopefully the lads will respond and leave us on a positive points score for the first time this season by the end of Saturday.

Difficult to get overexcited about whilst the Sword of Damocles is dangling over our heads - why don't the EFL just get on with it and tell us what they are going to do about the cancelled match? Are they waiting until we get in touching distance of the other clubs before snatching it away?

I agree, it's very unfair behaviour by the EFL.

It does seem very strange that they're taking so long to make a decision or even schedule a hearing. There are two cancelled matches for them to look at and both are several months old now so surely it can't be that hard to determine what if any charges are to be brought.

it would be nice if things stayed the way they are, and due to the long interval, the EFL admonish us instead.

The EFL can fuck right off. It's been far too long to impose more point reductions now.

They should have done it in the first instance!

I agree. I wouldn't put it past them to wait and see if we can come close to salvation, then drop it on us.
They're not fit for purpose.

Well at least we'll know where we stand. Better than them delaying it until next season and then starting us off on a minus score IMO.

Presumably they know but they're not telling us just to prolong the agony.

Match Preview: Bolton Wanderers vs. MK Dons

Wanderers welcome Russell Martin’s MK Dons on Saturday afternoon for a Sky Bet League One clash at the University of Bolton Stadium.

MK Dons currently sit 21st in the Sky Bet League One at the time of writing and they haven’t won in their last six games.

Their last fixture in the league against Tranmere Rovers ended in 3-1 home defeat.

Team News

When speaking to Wanderers boss Keith Hill in his pre-match press conference, we are no clearer on return dates for some of ever long injury list.

Head to Head

Wanderers and MK Dons have faced each other on four occasions, with the Whites coming out on top in one of those clashes.

The last time the two teams met was in February 2017, in Sky Bet League One.

The game finished as a 1-1 draw between the sides, with Jay Spearing putting the Whites in the lead before a Kieran Agard strike earing a draw for the Dons.

Match Coverage:

As usual, match updates will be provided by the club’s official twitter account (@OfficialBWFC). We will keep you up to date with the action to ensure you don’t miss a kick – delivering a match report shortly after the final whistle with post-match reaction from manager, Keith Hill.

Live commentary will also be available by the iFollow BWFC channel (subscribe via the website), with the BBC Radio Manchester team providing the coverage.

Betting Odds

Wanderers are the favourites heading into this one. The home side are fancied to take this one by Sky Bet and are priced at 7/5 at the time of writing.

MK Dons are priced at 17/10 to register a second league victory of the 2019/20 campaign and you can get the draw at 23/10.

Man in the Middle:

Saturday afternoon’s game will be officiated by Andrew Madley.

He has officiated eight matches this season with his latest a 4-2 home victory for Cardiff City against Birmingham City in the Sky Bet Championship.

This season, he has dished out 27 yellow cards and three red cards.

During his nine seasons in the professional refereeing ranks, Madley last refereed Wanderers in February 2019, which finished in a 2-1 away defeat for the Trotters.

Ian Hussin and Simon Beck will act as his assistants, with Jonathan Hunt the fourth official for Saturday’s fixture.

Key Man for the Dons – Ben Reeves

When looking at the MK Dons side, Ben Reeves is the main man leading the line for Russell Martin’s side.

The Northern Ireland international has made over 100 appearances for the Dons in two stints at the club, with his return coming in August 2019.

He has one goal to his name in Sky Bet League One so far, which came in a 3-1 home defeat against Tranmere Rovers.

The 27-year-old has had success at MK in the past, winning promotion to the Sky Bet Championship in 2014/15 and both Player’s Player and Player of the Year the season prior.

Report: Bolton Wanderers 1-0 MK Dons

DARYL MURPHY atoned for a missed penalty on the stroke of full-time to give Bolton Wanderers a precious victory against ten-men MK Dons with an injury-time winner at the University of Bolton StadIum.

It was Wanderers third successive league victory which took them into a positive points.

After dominating the game and creating the better of the chances, it looked as if Wanderers were heading for a frustrating draw.

And when the big Irishman saw his penalty saved on 90 minutes it appeared that fortune had abandoned Wanderers.

But his persistence paid off and he made an astute finish to send the Wanderers fans into delirium deep into time added on.

Captain Liam Bridcutt was the surprise inclusion to the starting XI as manager Keith Hill made two changes from the side that bowed out of the Emirates FA Cup last weekend.

Bridcutt returned after a six-week layoff at the expense of Sonny Graham while Josh Earl came in for Yoan Zouma.

Wanderers started off on the front foot with a good passage of play seeing Luke Murphy find Adam Chicksen on the flank. The defender’s resulting cross was headed over the bar by Daryl Murphy.

Just a minute later and Chris O’Grady saw a goalbound effort blocked by a Dons defender after latching on to a Luke Murphy pass.

The hosts were well on top during the opening stages with another well placed Chicksen cross causing problems for the Dons defence. However, Joe Dodoo wasn’t quite able to make a solid connection with the centre.

Wanderers had to have their wits about them when Callum Brittain latched on to a superb lofted pass and drilled in a low cross which was dealt with by Earl.

Jake Wright then came to the rescue to get in the way of a Ben Reeves shot after he was picked out inside the area.

Daryl Murphy and Luke Murphy combined at the other end with the former seeing a header held by Lee Nichols in the Dons’ goal.

Former Wanderers Joe Mason had a golden chance to put the visitors in front when he was put through on goal, but the slightest of touches from Remi Matthews saw the ball cannon off the post to give Wanderers a let off.

A foul on Daryl Murphy resulted in a free kick for Wanderers from 25 yards out, but Josh Emmanuel’s set-piece went over the bar.

A lovely deft touch from O’Grady played in Chicksen, whose cross deflected for a corner as Wanderers seized the initiative.

On the half hour mark, Nicholls pushed away Luke Murphy’s angled drive after Jason Lowe latched onto Daryl Murphy’s flick-on to drive into space.

Ben Reeves tried a speculative shot from distance but his effort sailed comfortably over the bar.

Reeves was proving to be the main source of danger and his left footed cross enabled George Wiliiams to power a header across goal albeit wide of target.

Nicholls produced a stunning save to thwart Luke Murphy after the Wanderers midfielder powered a shot towards goal after Bridcutt’s cross was cleared into his path.

From the resulting corner, Nicholls made yet another fantastic save to keep out Daryl Murphy’s header after he got on the end of Emmanuel’s dead ball delivery.

The second-half started rather slowly but it almost came to life through Luke Murphy who blasted an effort from the edge of the box which forced Nicholls into parrying the ball before collecting it at the second attempt.

Emmanuel was in the right place to make an important clearance after Brittain’s cross was on its way to Jordan Bowery at the far post.

Mason then fired over the bar from 15 yards out after he got on the end of Dean Lewington’s free kick.

Wanderers were handed a boost when Williams was sent off after appearing to strike substitute Verlinden, who for some reason was shown a yellow card, in the face during an off the ball incident.

Immediately, the hosts were looking to take advantage of their numerical superiority and Lowe went wide with a drive from the edge of the box.

Emmanuel saw his shot blocked after running into the box before Bridcutt tried his luck from range only to see Nicholls make a comfortable save.

Verlinden was cause problems for the visitors and his low centre was turned towards goal by Daryl Murphy before Cargill got in a vital block.

O’Grady then switched the play to Verlinden and he tormented Brittain before lashing a shot wide of target from narrow angle.

At the other end Gilbey controlled the ball before hitting a rising strike over the bar from 20 yards out.

A big chance fell to the Dons when Bowery headed back across goal only for Walsh to let fly from close range. Fortunately, the ball went over Matthews’ bar.

Wanderers were persevering though and Chicksen’s run down the left saw him pull back for Lowe whose shot was blocked before going for a corner.

On the stroke of full-time Wanderers were awarded a penalty after Cargill handled the ball in the area. Daryl Murphy’s powerful penalty was saved with Nicholls diving at full stretch to keep out the Irishman from six yards.

A frustrating draw was on the cards, but deep into time added on the big striker atoned for his miss to give Wanderers a stunning last-gasp victory.

Team: Matthews, Emmanuel, Lowe, Wright, L Murphy, D Murphy, O’Grady (Politic 79), Chicksen, Dodoo Verlinden 57), Bridcutt, Earl

Subs Not Used: Alexander, Darcy, Zouma, Senior, Graham

Important win all seemed lost after the penalty but never say never, solid at the back a major boost to get Bridcutt back he will get better with a few games, Verlinden also played a major role.  Both fullbacks played well, So another win and a good feeling coming out of the ground.
