Regards racism in this country, there is a think tank report, out today, that says, (if I remember right), that 80% of EU immigrants say that the UK is not racist and they like living here, 70% from outside the EU say the same, and overall, (presumably from everywhere) 70% think the UK is not racist, and a good place to live. Still a long way to go, but not as bad as some would portray. The lady presenting these figures was of the opinion that these figures were generally good, (don't know compared to what).
