Wanderers have confirmed the capture of Congolese international Toto Nsiala, who joins on loan until the end of the season.

The former Everton youth has featured in just three League One games – and nine in total – for parent club Ipswich Town this season and Keith Hill has agreed to take the central defender until the summer.

Hill had been short on options at the back following the end of Jake Wright and Josh Earl's loan stays but 27-year-old Nsiala is expected to go straight into the Whites' squad to travel to Rochdale tomorrow.

"Potentially, Toto is coming," said Hill at his press conference earlier today. "I’ve been at the club for 16 weeks, that's been16 league games and 18 points with the players that we managed to bring together in the first days of the journey, and I need to make us better.

"If we reflect that 16 games and 18 points over the rest of the season we’ll be relegated, so I need us to be better.

"We have to, at some point over the next 23 games, reach promotion form and I don’t think we would have done it with the team that represented us and Bolton Wanderers against Burton."

Though he did not make a first-team appearance for Everton, Nsiala has plenty of EFL experience and featured in 24 matches for Ipswich last term.

"I think he needs game time," said Ipswich boss Paul Lambert. "He’s not high in confidence at the minute.

"He gives you everything, there’s no fear from me with his effort, but he’s just having a bit of a hard time that players sometimes go through.

"I can’t fault him for his commitment but he’s just in need of a confidence boost."
