MK Dons boss Russell Martin believes his side were worth a greater margin of victory against Wanderers.
Rhys Healy scored for the fifth consecutive game to hand the Whites a fourth consecutive defeat.
The game had been a nervy contest to that stage – but Martin said that once his players had steadied their nerves, they should have gone on to score more goals.
“I think we were in control for the whole game, there was no doubt about it,” he said. “We’re going to come up against that a few more times this season where teams come and sit back, make it really difficult for us.
“We had to be patient, and we’d talked about that. First half we were lacking our usual intensity and there were a couple of little mistakes – the whole thing was a little bit flat and that created a little bit of anxiety for the players. But we spoke about relaxing and that they (Bolton) would get tired and the chances would come.
“I was really pleased with the second half and we could have ended up with three or four goals. I don’t think anyone could have complained if we did.
“I think they had two shots and nothing really for Lee (Nicholls) to save. I’d have liked us to be more incisive but you are not going to get that every week.”
