A man who told how a vest covering his genitals had slipped as he sunbathed naked in a garden, has been found not guilty of exposure.

Matthew Walmsley, aged 36, of Cope Bank West, Smithills, had been enjoying the sun in a garden in Halliwell on Good Friday last year.

But it was alleged by two young women in the garden next door that he had also been performing a sex act on himself.

Walmsley, who had drunk a bottle and a half of wine, denied he had done any such thing but admitted he had no clothes on, stating that a vest he had placed across his genitals must have slipped off as he dozed.

During a subsequent confrontation with one of the women and her father it was claimed that he hit her with a concrete coping stone from a wall.

Walmsley denied causing actual bodily harm, affray and exposure and was cleared following a four day trial at Bolton Crown Court.

A similar thing happened to me.

Mind you, I was in Dixon's.
