Ian Evatt has received a double injury boost with the news both Gethin Jones and Tom White could be back in action within just six weeks.
It was initially feared that Wanderers right back Jones could be ruled out until at least the new year - and possibly even the rest of the season - with the ankle injury he suffered in the win against Harrogate Town last week, as a result of a collision with striker Mark Beck.
White was then injured in Tuesday night's EFL Trophy defeat at Shrewsbury after a heavy challenge from former Wanderers midfielder Josh Vela.
But both have received good news from scans ahead of Bolton’s home game with Grimsby Town tomorrow.
“It’s actually more positive than what we first thought,” said Evatt.
“The initial MRI scan on Gethin wasn’t good, however we’ve since had a CT scan and he’s been to see a specialist with brighter news, more positive news.
“It looks more like solely ligament damage rather than bone, which is obviously good.
"So hopefully instead of it being six-nine months, which it could have been, it’s more likely to be six weeks, which is still a big injury and a definite tough one to take, but we’d much rather that than the rest of the season.
Of White, who had a scan yesterday, Evatt added: “Similarly with Tom White, we initially thought it looked like quite a serious medial ligament injury.
"It’s actually classed as a split tear so instead of going across, which is a lot worse, it’s more down the middle of the ligament, which is easier to cope with.
“With him it’s more likely to be four to six weeks.”
This afternoon Jones took to social media to say he’d had better news on his recovery, tweeting: “Gutted to be spending some time on the sideline, but grateful I’ll be back sooner than first fears. Will be working hard to get back ASAP.”
