Alan Pardew

I was browsing Newcastle forums earlier for their views on his new eight year contract.
It's pretty unanimous that "it gives us the stability we've been crying out for for years, like."
Will stability be so highly valued the minute things start to go wrong, I wonder?
I think the sad thing to come out of Alan Pardew doing a good job is the credit taken by Mike Ashley. Did he see something in him that everyone else simply didn't or was it a decision only as credible intellectually as winning the lottery?

I am amazed any club would dish out an 8 year contract, it can only come back to haunt them. Pardew is a good manager, but one bad season and the St James Park faithful will want his head on a stick.

Though I do think it's massive fuck up personally.

Of course 8 year contracts do not work - they never bring success for a club!!!!!

Moyes - Everton

Wenger - Arsenal

Ferguson - Scum

Grady - Crewe



Of course these 8 year+ contracts never work. Not one manager has ever had a success for a club with these lengthy contracts!

So in the history of football you can come up with five managers who did ok on long contracts? Out of interest, how many of those managers have won anything in the last five years?
