WANDERERS (4-3-3)
MATT GILKS…7.
Came up with the big saves when Wanderers needed them. There were some nervous moments as the ball bounced around a slippery penalty box but he deserved not to lose the game.
HARRY BROCKBANK…6.5.
Put under big pressure early on as Caprice and Key doubled up and Wanderers’ new look midfield struggled to cover but the youngster showed guts to start winning his battles.
RICARDO SANTOS…6.
Unlucky with the own goal but generally solid. Looks to be adapting better to playing in a two, which is pleasing to see.
RYAN DELANEY…5.
Will know he was at fault for the goal after allowing Matt Jay to get around him in the penalty box. Needs to be better than this if he is to keep his place.
GETHIN JONES…6.
Steady away for the full-back, who was moved back to his more natural right side. Had his hands full against Joel Randall but kept going.
ANDREW TUTTE…6.5.
The defensive midfield pivot that should theoretically allow Sarcevic and Lee scope to raid forward. He too had a busy night but other than one mistimed challenge, did little wrong.
ANTONI SARCEVIC…6.
Got on the ball more than anyone else in a Bolton shirt and though he made a few bad choices, his energy in the last 15 minutes kept his side afloat.
KIERAN LEE…6.
Tidy start to his Bolton career. Hardly wasted the ball and got around the pitch well in his first game for 12 months.
LLOYD ISGROVE…6.
A few frustrating set pieces but also some glimpses of class on the ball which set him apart from the rest. Yet to see the very best of him.
EOIN DOYLE…6.
Will be disappointed he didn’t score in the first half but this was another night where he dug in for the team.
NATHAN DELFOUNESO…5.
Seems at rather a low ebb at the moment. Tracked back and touched the ball more in his own half than he did in Exeter territory. Needs to push on.
Subs: Gnahoua 7, 71 (for Delfouneso) – Scored and looked electric when he came on.
Crawford 6, 71 (for Lee) – Provided a classy pass in the build up to the goal.
Not used: Crellin, Mascoll, Darcy, Thomason, Baptiste.
Exeter City (4-4-2): Maxted; Caprice, Sweeney, Parkes, Page; Key, Taylor, Collins, Randall; Bowman, Jay.
Subs: Atangana 55 (for Taylor), Sparkes 63 (for Page), Hartidge 81 (for Caprice), Seymour 81 (for Randall), Law 81 (for Jay).
Not used: Ward, McArdle, Law.
Referee: Sam Allison 6/10 – Rather a stop-start game but the referee made no obvious errors, so no complaints.
