WANDERERS (3-4-1-2)
MATT GILKS…8.
Two huge saves and a constant stream of conversation to talk his defence through the game. An overdue change but a welcome one nonetheless.
ALEX BAPTISTE…8.
Strong display from the veteran defender who let very little get past him all night. Better distances between him and Kioso too.
RICARDO SANTOS…8.5.
Possibly his best showing in a Bolton shirt to date. Ended the game as he started it with a thunderous touchline challenge.
RYAN DELANEY…8.
Growing in confidence on the ball and bombed on to support Jones on occasion alongside his dependable defensive work.
PETER KIOSO…6.
Improved in the second half and made one superb block on the edge of his own box. A definite step in the right direction for the Luton youngster.
ANTONI SARCEVIC…7.5.
When he got the ball in the final third, he was positive with it, and that is what gave Wanderers the edge. Should have scored… But you can’t have everything.
ANDY TUTTE…8.
Cracking return to the team. Got in among the Salford midfield and turned over possession with regularity, using the ball well.
GETHIN JONES…7.
Tried towards the end – but only to be expected. A fine shift from the wing-back, whose return to the starting line-up is an under-stated boost.
ALI CRAWFORD…6.
Not quite at his swaggering best but there were some touches of class in there and his work out of possession was good too.
EOIN DOYLE…7.
Sharp finish for the opening goal, which was a big bonus on his return from injury. If Wanderers can give him those sort of chances, there are plenty more where that came from.
NATHAN DELFOUNESO…6.
Didn’t get much of a sniff near to goal but worked hard to keep Salford on their toes at the back.
Subs: Miller 73 (for Doyle) – One delightful cross nearly turned by Kioso.
Isgrove 78 (for Delfouneso) – Mazy run towards the end.
White 83 (for Crawford) – Came on to see the game out.
Not used: Crellin, Gordon, Hickman, Darcy.
Salford: Hladky; Threlkeld, Clarke, Turnbull, Touray; Thomas-Assante, Lowe, Hunter; Bernard, Henderson, Boyd.
Subs: Andrade 46 (for Thomas-Asante), Burgess 46 (for Boyd), Dieseruvwe 78 (for Hunter).
Not used: Evans, Eastham, Armstrong, Dieseruvwe, Smith.
Referee: Darren Drysdale 7/10
