Not at all sure that Gartside will do the obvious but we can only guess (that's that these forums are for).
If/when Coyle finally goes Mick Mac would be a disastrous appointment. He would steady the ship and we would be OK for this season but after that it would continue in a downward spiral.
Mick Mac has this huge sense of self-importance which is totally undeserved. Also his dull, boring, voice drives me mad. I could put-up with it if he didn't have the worst record in the PL for consecutive defeats.

For me it has to be Bryan Robson as next manager. He was excellent at Middlesbrough and is respected around the world as a legend.

Bryan Robson would be a top choice. What a great bloke.
What about a Robson/McCarthy dream team? They could be the next McFarland/Todd.

Can't agree Nat, in the long term they're both plodders. They would get us out of our current dilemma, but I doubt they would do much more.

We've already got a crap manager, we don't need another.

Absolutely no chance. He likes his booze too much. Took Boro down as well.

I have to agree with the "Witch" on that post!Natasha Whittam wrote:Hipster_Nebula wrote:I don't doubt he'd have us up the league, tighter at the back and more spirited.
but his influence only goes so far, his teams play awful football and he's failed miserably in the premiership time and time again, usually ends his tenures with bad fan relationships and awful awful runs.... sound familiar?
I'm not interested in another manager who prides himself on playing the worst possible football.
I agree he's not the chap to lead us in a Premier League campaign.
But let's be honest, Coyle will leave behind such a poor team I still think there's a bigger chance of us going down than getting promoted.
First things first, let's stay up! We need a manager experienced in the Championship.

Gartside average points per game....
He wants 2pts per game
We are now 1.1 pts per game - now looking at needing 9 straight back to back wins to get back on track....
