I'm suffering from it at the moment - earliest the dentist will see me is Monday - so what can I do to numb the pain until then?

Been using Ibuprofen and keeping the tooth as clean as I can but what do you do when one of your little peggies hurt you?

Emergency Dentist, know you're not in Bolton Sluffy, but do you not have one where you are.

It's not killing me but it aches and I can't eat on that side of my mouth.

I don't really like to give into things so I'll just tough it out until Monday.

I despise going to the dentist though, it seems to be all about making money to them these days. Used to have a good one on the bottom of Vernon Street so I know what a decent dentist can do and judge these thieving bastards nowadays against him.

Thought the thread might lead to one or two bits of practical advice and a couple of jokes to make me laugh and forget the pain for a while.

Know what you mean, I used yo go to the one in Silverwell Street - in the old days one of the partners was Mr Winstanley - in the old NHS days. Nowadays, since he retired, its a Mr Glynn and about 30 quid a visit just for a check-up and then another 30 quid to get them cleaned!!!

Would his name be Robin Heywood? My mum was a dental nurse there for many a year and so will have inspected your gums on many an occasion. Spooky small world!

Yes, that's him - must have met your mother many times then.

Ask her if she remembers a bloke driving up from down London way who brought his daughter along for an appointment as well - if she does that would be me and Miss Sluffy.

Small world indeed.

One O is right. Get to any pharmacist or fruitcake herbalist place and get some oil of cloves and a big wad of cotton wool. It'll take the pain away for hours. Trust me- it works!

CLOVE OIL. (apologies if anyone has already said it - I didn't read)

But try it, it's disgusting but it works for bad toothache.

Clove Oil or equally shite tasting remedy is to crush an anadin (other brands are available!)on the offending tooth and its opposite number above/below just let it dissolve over the bastard - try not to swallow. Its tastes vile but it works. Failing that a tenner bag of smack from Breightmet would do the trick too

Just a little bit more on toothache, if it's a hole in your tooth you can get a filler from the Chemist you mix yourself and put it into place, it really does work, but it's only meant to be a temporary fix..

When mine fell out i tried using my Grandsons Plasticine... It didn't work.

The Ibuprofen seems to be working well, so much so that I stopped taking them this morning but the ache came back again this afternoon (when I was out) and lasted until I got home and took another tablet.

I'll survive until Monday but I know these set of bandits will want to do the most work possible to earnt themselves a fortune rather than just do the necessary required.

Did you see on the news today about a dentist ripping off the NHS to the tune of nearly£1.5 million!

Greedy bastards some of them are, that's for sure
