Just saw an article go up on Bolton News website. Apparently Sordell, Lee, Pratley and Afobe were subject to racist chants from the Milwall fans. Absolute disgrace if it turns out to be true.

Wanderers star claims he was the victim of racist abuse

6:23pm Saturday 6th October 2012 in News
BOLTON Wanderers striker Marvin Sordell has claimed he was the victim of racist abuse on the pitch at Millwall.

The 21-year-old has taken to the social networking website, Twitter, to criticise supporters at The Den who chanted alleged racist abuse at him, Benik Afobe, Darren Pratley and Chung-Yong Lee.

Sordell said: “Putting the match aside, its 2012 in England and people are still shouting racist abuse at a football match.

“Chungy, Pratts, Benik and I had all sorts of things said to us.”

Bolton Wanderers are now in discussions about the situation.

The Whites were beaten 2 – 1.

assume you have evidence to back that up, because without it, it's a disgraceful comment and should be removed by Mods.

Ha ha.

I don't like racism, but neither do I like overpaid ponces whinging like girls 10 minutes after the game ended.

They were playing Millwall, if you can't go to those places and take some abuse you shouldn't be a professional footballer.

Disgraceful views.

Racism is ok... as long as you're in Millwall. Ridiculous and i hope you, or a mod, retract that statement.

You sound like you're seething.

I'm not saying racism is ok, I'm saying you have to expect it at certain grounds. Fair enough make an official complaint once the dust has settled, but should players be tweeting 10 minutes after being beaten by a poor team?

Nothing more to add.

Archaic and offensive views. "racism happens, accept it" - disgusting and should be deleted.

Yeah and ignore it.

don't kick up a fuss about it, don't make a noise about it.

No wonder people still think it's ok to be racist.

You're missing the point. Sordell didn't make a fuss, he wrote it on his twitter page.

Are there no limits to your love of these ponces?

This is a new low for you.

defending racism and chastising a player brave enough to speak out when he's been abused.

You'll see from his twitter page that despite, allegedly, being the victim of racism, he's being pilloried.

Kudos to him for his stance.

Oh right, so anyone who is the victim of racism can be excused playing like a dick?

I hate racism, sexism or homophobia - but I live in a world where professionals should do their job.

Considering he didn't play i think it's a bit harsh.

he was subjected to abuse, allegedly, and has said so.

how anyone can be against that defies belief.

the game and the abuse are two separate issues.

I would have to see proof. I don't doubt there was abuse, but "you're a fucking shit player Marvin you ponce" is not racist.

Actually I agree with Natasha in that it could be a smokescreen.

We all know how perfect Copyle is with regards to PR under certain circumstances - the late great Nat Lofthouse and of course Muamba. This could be seen as perfect screen to hide the shit performance and to keep Coyle in place to sort out the "racism." And a way out for Coyle for what he has recently said in the press with regards to "bad" performances by referees and alienating the fans.

They will expect us fans to stand behind Coyle and the players to stamp out this awful racial tirade!!!

To be fair, its is true, then fair enough but this can be handled by the club's own PR department, the board and the Football League whilst carrying on with the normal days business of running a football club - thus meaning they should still remove Coyle from managerial duties asap.

Sorry just seen this.

I don't think for one second that Sordell said he and others had been racial abused to deflect away from the teams’ performance today. I don't think Sorell cares much for Coyle anyway in the way he seems to have been treated by him so far, so it's hardly credible that he would 'cry' racism simply just to help the useless sod.

I'm as certain that Natasha was not suggesting being subject to racism is acceptable anywhere and was not trying to condone racism in any way, shape or form.

Hope my little statement is acceptable to everyone - if not please just say so and the thread will be removed.

Thank you.

Every club has it's share of dickhead fans, it's a fact of life. Millwall have CCTV at the den so the cops can look at the footage and hopefully identify the idiots concerned.

They did it at Liverpool last season when they played United and Evra got abused. I was amazed to see the culprit was John McCririck.
