Ian Evatt is hoping Wanderers can welcome back their fans in League One next season.

More than 1,000 supporters jumped at the chance to renew their season tickets for next season in the first 24 hours of them going on sale, the number now beyond 1,500.

The club are rewarding those who dug deep during the pandemic by offering discounted prices for the 2021/22 campaign.

Around 8,000 fans stand to benefit from the club’s offer to reduce next season’s prices by 10 per cent for all seats purchased before the June 7 deadline.

Evatt has spoken at length about his admiration for the Wanderers support, despite not managing a game with Whites fans officially present, and has again been impressed with the reaction to the season ticket release earlier this week.

“I think if we’d have won last Saturday we would have sold a few more," the Bolton boss said.

“Hopefully this weekend we can do that and the fans can be back with us next year.

“We have missed them, no two ways about it. The support has been magnificent.

“To have bought so many season tickets in an uncertain time last year summer, haven’t seen us all season, but still stand by and support the club they love, I can’t speak highly enough of our fans.

“Hopefully we can welcome them back next season to a higher division, a reformed football team and a reformed football club, something they can be really proud of.”

Fans – who have not seen their side in action at the UniBol since the goalless draw with Accrington in February last year – have tuned into iFollow in their thousands to watch a roller-coaster campaign from home.

With one final hurdle to overcome to secure a promotion that looked extremely unlikely for large parts of the season, Evatt's message to supporters is clear.

“Just stick with us and believe in us," he said. "This team all season has been asked questions, they’ve been asked one more question and let’s hope we provide the answers as we have done this season.”
