They haven't been very exciting in the warm-up games, TROY! Southgate is not very adventurous....Let them express themselves!T.R.O.Y. wrote:
Can’t believe I forgot about Mount, has to play! Goes to show how many great players we have though.
Agree we have issues at the back but there hasn’t been a more exciting side in my lifetime.

Ah don’t know Okocha, Southgate has got the best football out of an England squad I’ve seen. Im a big fan of Gareth and how he’s bought this team together.

Maybe its me in my dotage, but I don't get good vibes from the this team. I feel its more a collection of talented players rather than a team. Hopefully, I'm wrong, and I think Okocha is on the button saying they're not very adventurous at this time.
Although 1-0 wins served Bolton well last season, its too narrow a margin for England to play to, and I never expect high scoring games from them nowadays. i often feel they have no direction and no real captain to lead them. However, ever the optimist, I think Wales will win

Has a team ever won a tournament without a decent goalkeeper, center of defense and central midfield? None that I can think of.

Think Pickford gets a bit of a rough time myself, he’s never let England down and his distribution is a real asset. Kind of agree on central defence the fact Maguire is seen as our most important is concerning.
Mostly agree on the midfield midfield but Rice has had a great season for West Ham - I didn’t think he had that quality in him and Bellingham looks like a real talent so I’d chuck him in.
I don’t think we’re good enough to win it but a decent run to the Quarters/Semis during which we beat a top side would do me nicely.
Can’t really look beyond France at the moment for winners.

No mate - Van Dijk is a Dutch footballer who plays for Liverpool when he's not crocked. Van Dyke on the other hand is a 95 year old musical performer with a bad cockney accent and he's never played for Belgium to my knowledgeNorpig wrote:

Id go for Italy as a dark horse as well looking at their form recently.

I know full well, that's why I was taking the piss out of you...
...but of course you knew that...we all did!
Nothing changes with you and tbh I never expected that it ever would.
Still never mind, on we go.

Just watched Eriksen go down like a sack of spuds and it's a flashback to Muamba.
Praying he makes it but it doesn't look good at the moment.

Hopefully Eriksen didn't suffer too much damage. It seems he was brought round fairly quickly which is a very good sign but even so it will be the end of his career I reckon. Main thing is he's survived.

The Light Programme really has gone down the pan since Grace Archer died. You wouldn't catch Alvar Lidell behaving like this.

Fook me, I thought Gareth was clueless, but I underestimated by how much.
Trippier at LEFT BACK. You couldn't make it up.
And Grealish on the bench, probably our best player after Kane, and Stirling gets picked.
FOOK OFF SOUTHGATE.
5 years to prepare and he sticks a right back at left back.
The man is a clown and should be sacked before kick off.

I've just had another look at the team. Two fooking holding midfielders at home to an aging Croatia.
I am absolutely seething. We should have gone all out attack and made a statement.
FOOK OFF SOUTHGATE.
Gareth/Evans out!

Decent result, and good goal for Sterling. Phillips had a cracking game.

Totally agree. Good performance all round, especially from those whom the press and some fans had criticised.BoltonTillIDie wrote:Decent result, and good goal for Sterling. Phillips had a cracking game.

Good performance in the end. Like Nat I was pulling my hair out at the lineup but to be fair to Southgate he got the result and against our toughest group opponent that is massive.
Agree with the above on Phillips, kept winning the ball back high up the pitch - I’d have played Grealish but Rashford made sense after he took Kane off. He doesn’t get enough credit for the game planning and this worked well.
Play faster and press for longer periods but they’ve come through a big test there. Great start.

Decent result, bang average performance.
Croatia, as expected, were awful. Most of their squad wouldn't get in a Championship team.
We created virtually nothing all game. Foden hit the post and that's about it.
All our so-called attacking players were awful, Foden passed the ball backwards more in his 70 minutes than he did all season for Man City. Mount & Kane were anonymous and Stirling wasteful.
Defence was decent, Mings outstanding, although we created absolutely nothing down either wing. Teams that win trophies don't have right backs at left back.
Rashford came on and didn't touch the ball, ditto Bellingham. Surely if you want to bring on a player to hold onto the ball Grealish is your first call?
Gareth is out of his depth. Pick that team against anyone decent and we will get dicked.
