TEAM NEWS: Bakayoko ruled out of Portsmouth clash 13148339

Wanderers forward Amadou Bakayoko is ruled out of Saturday’s trip to Portsmouth after suffering an ankle injury against Gillingham.

Eoin Doyle is also a doubt but George Johnston is available after being forced off at half-time against Gillingham with a knee problem.

“Baka, when he came on last week, injured his ankle in the build-up to the first goal so he’s out for Saturday,” said Bolton boss Ian Evatt.

“It’s not too serious but he needs some more time. It’s the other ankle (from his previous injury).

“Other than that, Eoin (Doyle) has had a bit of illness but he seems to be on the recovery now so hopefully he’s back tomorrow.

“George Johnston has recovered fine so he’s available, and then we’ve got one or two niggles that we’re having to manage at the moment.

“These things come to challenge us and we haven’t really had a clear run all season with injuries.

"But hopefully that will even itself out over the course of the season and we’ll get some more luck and people back fit and available as soon as possible.”

The injury is a blow for Bakayoko, who recently returned from a spell on the sidelines due to a calf problem.

However, Evatt is hopeful the striker won’t be out of action for too long.

He added: “He’s down in the dumps, of course he is. If you look at his career so far, he’s 24 and I don’t think he’s had any injuries, and all the medical reports that we had prior to that said he’s got a really good fitness record.

“But I can happen, it’s football. Two injuries to both ankles, the second one a contact injury on Saturday.

“It’s a rough ride but we’ll keep him positive, he’ll stay positive and hopefully he’ll be back soon. I don’t think it’s serious but it’s serious enough to keep him out (against Portsmouth).”
