Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has challenged Elias Kachunga to be more of a goal threat following his first goal for the club.
Kachunga – who arrived at the UniBol over the summer – was on target as the Whites were held to a 2-2 draw against Stockport County in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
Eoin Doyle also scored for Bolton, who are due to travel to Edgeley Park for the replay next week.
Evatt was delighted to see Kachunga get on the scoresheet and praised the forward for his recent performances.
“Hopefully now that kicks him on,” said the Bolton boss. “He’s been doing lots of good work, he’s been getting fitter and stronger all the time and some of his link up and crossing has been very good.
“He just needed that goal. It’s everyone’s responsibility as well as his to add goals to the team and I’m pleased for him today.”
Evatt admits the result was frustrating after seeing his side go 2-1 up and challenged them to “finish the job” in the replay.
“There was lots of things in their favour and I think everybody was expecting a cup upset, but there wasn’t one,” he added.
“Obviously we didn’t win and we would have liked to have won but we’re in the hat for the next round which is important.
“Now we have to go and finish the job on I’m guessing a Tuesday night at the end of November.”
Having another game added to Wanderers’ busy schedule might seem like a bad thing, but Evatt is looking at the positives.
The Bolton boss says a win at Edgeley Park would help build momentum as they look to end their winless run in League One.
He said: “I like playing, I want us to play because I like winning games. I like to feel and win games and I think once you get on a roll and you win games, you gather momentum and it can snowball.
“Football cup competitions can really help with momentum and we have to go there. We’ve got two cup competitions coming up - we’ve got the replay and then we’ve got the Papa John’s coming up.
"If we can keep winning those games hopefully that’ll feed into the league and we can get onto a good run in the league again.”
