TEAM NEWS: MJ Williams out for the 'forseeable' future with shoulder injury 13227439

Wanderers boss Ian Evatt says MJ Williams will be out for the “foreseeable” future after suffering a dislocated shoulder against Wycombe over the weekend.

Williams was forced off early in the second half at Adams Park and is due to see a consultant this week.

Evatt also confirmed Alex Baptiste is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury against the Chairboys.

When asked about his side’s injury struggles, the Bolton boss said: “Bad to worse. MJ dislocated his shoulder. He’s in to see a consultant this week.

“We’ll then have a realistic time frame, whether he needs immediate surgery or we may be able to get away with it until the summer.

“But even still, it’s going to take some weeks to rebuild some strength in the shoulder to prevent it from coming out again, so he’s out for the foreseeable.

“Alex Baptiste also (suffered a) medial ligament injury from Saturday. He looks like he’ll be missing. Yeah, not good.”

Williams and Baptiste are the latest names added to Wanderers’ extensive injury list, and Evatt says the squad has been “absolutely decimated”.

He added: “In my career, let alone my management career, I’ve never known a period where so many senior players can be missing at once.

“We’re not talking about squad players here, we’re talking about our first XI – it’s been absolutely decimated.

“But there’s nothing we can do about it unfortunately. We’ve got to crack on and that’s what I was saying on Saturday after the game, about a bit of a siege mentality.

“It’s us against the world and we’ve got to have the fans on board with that and back the players.

“We can’t do anything about it until January, so for now we’ve got to do the best we can to find a way of getting results.”

However, there is one bit of positive injury news for Wanderers as Eoin Doyle has “a very good chance” of featuring against Doncaster on Tuesday night.

The Irishman has been out of action since the Whites’ FA Cup clash with Stockport County at the UniBol earlier this month.

Evatt also gave an update on young defender Harry Brockbank, who has been absent from the matchday squad in recent weeks.

“He’s injured yeah. He’s got a partially torn Achilles so he’s probably still looking like another month away at least,” he said.

“Another one to add to the list.”
