I cant help but think he went down for 5 minutes becasue all players now have an inbuilt sense that if you are touched during a game, you fall down. If you look at how theatrical it was, you will see what I mean. I personally worry for the poor boy, for when he's out in crowds. He wouldnt get far, with clutching his face and falling over all the time.

Jail and a life time ban from football grounds is what this thick twat has coming. Kirkland did go down a little easy though. Would he grab his face and fall to the floor if someone did that to him in a pub?

To be fair to the guy it's completely different when you're surprised by your attack.

I was once walking my dog in the park when a football crashed into the side of my head. I was down for 10 minutes competely dazed. If I'd seen the football it might still have hurt but I wouldn't have stayed down.

It looked like a classic palm strike which can do more damage than a clenched fist. No room for this kind of loutish behaviour on the field of play.

He deserves a prison sentence and a lifetime ban. It's not as if it is his first offence. I wonder what his family and friends think of his behaviour ?

Gloucestershire Police have detained the oink this morning. I cannot see any appropriate sentence other than a prison spell.
