Wanderers' boosted their hopes of making a late push for the play-offs following a hard-fought 3-1 victory against Lincoln.

George Johnston, Kieran Sadlier and Amadou Bakayoko were all on target for the Whites in the second half.

Ian Evatt's men remain 10th in the League One table but have closed the gap on some of the teams immediately above them.

Here are four key takeaways from the game.

Big moment for Sadlier

Sadlier came off the bench to score his first goal for Wanderers – finding the bottom corner with a pinpoint strike from the edge of the box.

The Irishman has had to be patient for opportunities following his move from Rotherham in the January transfer window and will be hoping to push on in the coming weeks.

Sadlier is a technically gifted player and it’s clear to see why Evatt thought he would be a good fit for the Whites’ system.

Moreover, he has already been used in a couple of different roles and his versatility could be a big asset for Bolton going forward.

Strong home form

Wanderers have now won their last six matches at the UniBol – a run that began with a 2-0 victory against Ipswich last month.

Having a good record at home is always important for sides looking to make it out of the division and the Whites are clearly suited to the conditions there.

It’s fair to say Evatt’s men weren’t at their free-flowing best at times against the Imps, but the Bolton boss will be delighted with how they dug in and earned the victory.

They are now within five points of sixth-placed Sunderland ahead of Saturday’s trip to MK Dons, which is starting to look like another big game.

Aimson steadies the ship

Ricardo Santos’ absence from the Bolton line-up had the potential to disrupt the team but Will Aimson managed to steady the ship.

The defender was unlucky to be on the bench in recent fixtures after heading home the winner against Charlton earlier this month.

He played on the left side of a back three against the Addicks but was used in a more central defensive role last night, which is arguably better suited to his game.

Aimson’s hunger to impress was clear to see and his performance has given Evatt yet another selection headache ahead of Saturday's trip to Stadium MK.

Another big performance from Morley

Aaron Morley has gone from strength-to-strength since joining from Rochdale in the January window.

The 21-year-old has shown experience beyond his years in recent weeks and demonstrated his impressive passing range against the Imps.

His set-pieces also continue to have a big impact for Wanderers, having set up Johnston’s opening goal with an inviting corner.
