Kacha: It's Good To Be Back Large

Fit-again frontman Elias Kachunga is ready for the run-in after helping Wanderers keep their season alive.

Kachunga ended a 10-week absence with a thigh injury when he came off the bench as Wanderers were beaten at home by Plymouth a week ago.

Ian Evatt’s men again needed a goal against Crewe to avoid dropping more points and this time Kachunga was able to play his part in a dramatic last-gasp winner as the Whites made it back-to-back away victories.

His driving earned Wanderers the free-kick which led to fellow substitute Amadou Bakayoko’s 90th-minute clincher.

And Kachunga was delighted to make an impact as the Whites look to build another winning run to extend their interest in the play-off places.

“You can’t just win this game and go the whole season just as a team. It’s just not the first XI,” he said.

“It’s everyone who’s on the bench as well who can influence the game.

“We did it today and a brilliant goal from Baka to win the game 1-0.

“I’m happy to be back. I was buzzing last week to come back on the pitch and to be fit.

“Huge thanks to the medical team that I came back that quick and now I’m looking forward to last games.

“The manager knows I’m there and I’m always happy to be on the pitch to help the team.

“It’s a team effort from everyone and everyone has to pull together to win the last games.”

Kacha: It's Good To Be Back Fans-celebration

It’s still a long shot for Wanderers to sneak into the top six with a nine-point gap to close and plenty teams to pass with just seven games to go.

But the importance of the 1-0 victory at Gresty Road was evident for players and fans as they celebrated another dramatic strike from 11-goal frontman Bakayoko.

“We had massive support today,” added Kachunga.

“So many people came out to support as a team. Even when it was 0-0 they were pushing us until the last minute and we’re really happy to give them a win.

“We just kept believing in each other. In these games sometimes you just need one chance off a set-piece or a mistake from an opponent.

“And today was a set-piece. We stayed concentrated and put the ball in the net and it was also important to keep the clean sheet to have the chance at the end to win the game 1-0.”
