A twitter from Mark Iles of the Bolton News -

Tuncay out of tomorrow's game with tonsillitis. He is back in Germany...

Can't we deal with a sore throat in England?

Anyone think his throat won't get any better until the end of the season?

Tuncay has been so disappointing in his time at Bolton, he's hardly played a game. I am not sure why we signed him - is he simply no good any more? He has failed at Stoke, Wolfsburg and now here. I had such high hopes for him when he came, I did cart wheels in my living room when we signed him and jumped out of the window.
If only I had known how disappointing he would turn out I wouldn't have bothered.

If you think tonsilitis is just a sore throat, clearly, you've never had tonsilitis.

It is a common condition of loaning a player that if they are injured or ill, they return to the parent club for evaluation. Tuncay is on loan from a German club. So he has gone back to Germany.

Jesus, you are hard work sometimes, I've had tonsillitis and eventually had to have them taken out, so I yes, do know a little bit about it.

I'm sure Wolfsburg would be happy enough to have our club doctor to have a look at him - you know the one who helped save Muamba's life. Not much point asking someone to presumably fly all the way back to Germany for a common and well known illness when he his sick, when he could be more than adequately seen to here.

Tuncay wasn't in the squad on Saturday, he's not been featuring that often and when he has he's been played out of his normal position.

Maybe he's had enough?

Couldn't blame him if he has really.

I doubt that he's part of Coyle's master plan for the remaining four games – or do you think otherwise?

I had my tonsils out when I was five but luckily I didn't have to go to Germany. My parents kindly whipped me into Townleys and I was reet as rain,a week later.

Is it just me or did Tuncay get a pretty raw deal? He hardly ever started a game and spent far more time warming up than he ever did on the pitch. I watched him against Macclesfield in the League Cup last August. He played from the start and scored but after that he hardly got any quality game time. When you contrast how many games he started compared to Elmander then you have have to conclude that his loan signing was a complete waste of money.

Well if he's not fit enough to play, I don't care if he is in Germany or Timbuktu, as long as he is receiving treatment and not doing anything that would affect his recovery. Even if Wolfsburg aren't arsed, he probably has family in Germany.

I know I am hard work sometimes, but I really don't understand why you're so cynical sometimes. You did choose to describe tonsilitis as a sore throat and you did seem to suggest he's going to exaggerate his recovery period or something so he doesn't have to come back.

With our injury list, and given we will have paid a loan fee and are paying some of his wages, of course Coyle will want him back, even if he isn't planning to put him in the team.

I had tonsilitis in my first year at university and it was horrendous, didn't have to have them out though.

It'd pretty obvious to all concerned we won't be taking up the option to sign Tuncay on a permanent deal. He hasn't had much game time, but when he has, he's not done an awful lot, just one of those that hasn't worked out. Better than having a kid on the bench.

Agreed. Yet another player that has, in effect, been (not) used and abused. OC has wasted a year of his playing career. At his age, its bloody criminal.

Coyle has a master plan? Shocked

I'm not too bothered really, but he clearly isn't going to feature for us in a big way, fit or not.

So Germany might be the best place for him!

I agree Tuncay didn't get a great deal, but he did have a chance early doors and was at best average - not the player he was at his peak. I can understand why he hasn't played so much if you put it into the context of OCs rebuilding - why take up a valuable place with a player who isn't part of the future plans when he's not playing brilliantly? Mind you there are others who also fit that criterion.

He was obviously unfit when he arrived, but even then looked like he had more about him than two or three other options.
There was a time when he started to look fit again but after a few wasteful touches, he got dragged back out of consideration, because Coyle obviously doesn't tolerate wasteful play.

What I find interesting is that he can be a joy to watch and uninspiring play has been the problem all season. He could have turned into just the ingredient we've been lacking.

I was tempted to have Tuncay 9 put on the back of my Wanderers shirt before I came out to Turkey as a fitting tribute to a player I feel a bit sorry for. I may still get it done when I come home.

Very few players would have played if it came down to wastefulness alone. There have been periods when our lads couldn't string a sentence together let alone 2 consecutive passes, but thankfully there have been signs of improvement and in the second half last night we managed to put a few passes together to relieve the pressure and create the second goal. I think that Tuncay was never part of the long term plan but was brought in to hopefully help put us into a position where we could afford to experiment more with the younger signings, but it just didn't happen. If he'd had the same kind of impact Klas had when he first came on loan then perhaps an offer for him would have been considered

This was my point.

We've a team full of wasteful players. So what was it about Tuncay that made him not even worth a fair trial?

It can't be that he doesn't work hard enough.
