Those of you that follow my work will know that I have had a couple of ingenious ideas about how to kick-start the economy and get everyone back into a job. The first was to ditch everyone aged 14-21, the second was a mass cull of the over 60s.

However, I spent yesterday thinking about this conundrum. I was sat in my office as my brain worked this problem over when I started to look around the room. To my horror I realised it was full of people in their 30's who were simply doing the minimum to get through life.

Most have big mortgages, two or three sprogs, wives that were out spending their money or shagging the windowcleaner...basically a shit life. No drive, no ambition, they are basically in a massive rut and no use to anybody.

So how do you feel about euthanising everyone in their 30s? Again, it would leave a massive hole in the jobs market that could be filled by driven people in their 20s or unemployed 40/50 year olds who have bags of knowledge and experience......but are better off financially, the kids are grown up, and they've slapped the wife about a bit to keep her on her toes.

Could this work?

As I've always said, I'm doing this for the future of mankind.

While there is no doubt I am worth more than most people, I am prepared to sacrifice myself for the greater good. Doesn't this show how serious I am?

There are about 10 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them £1 million each severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

They MUST retire - Ten million job openings - unemployment fixed
They MUST buy a new British car - Ten million cars ordered - Car Industry fixed
They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed
They MUST send their kids to school/college/university - Crime rate fixed
They MUST buy £100 WORTH of alcohol/tobacco a week ..... And there's your money back in duty/tax.
Instead of playing around with the carbon emissions trading scheme that makes us pay for the major polluters, tell the greedy polluters to reduce their pollution emissions by 75% within 5 years or shut them down.

P.S. If more money is needed, have all Members of Parliament pay back their falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances. If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.

If not, please disregard.

Except that 90% of all new start-up businesses are done by people in their 30's! So where are the genius' going to come from and who is going to be prepared to lend money to frivilous youngsters (up top 30) or the older actegory when the chance of high returns is going to be minimal compared to those in the 30's!

What do you care, you're in your 40's.

The genius will come from the people in their 20's, the banks will be more than happy to lend to them.

Most people in their 20's have a debt which they have trouble repyaing. the average mid-20 year old has an average debt of about 25,000 pounds, and if they went to univeristy its an average of about 35,000 pounds and thats soon to rise due to the new university fees.

The average debt of someone in their 30's is between 10,000 and 13,500 pounds and with more responsibilties such as a growing family.

The year group with the highest level of non-payments, bankruptcies, IVA's etc are the 20 year olds!

Now as a lender, who would you lend to?

I may be in my 40's but I do care what happens in the future, financially and all other matters, because the world is just not for us but for future generations.

Christopher, I don't doubt that some of what you say is true, but the fact is the majority of 30-somethings are bums that offer nothing to society.

At the moment I am undecided which cull to go for....14-21 year olds, 30-39 year olds or the over 60s. I need more thinking time.
