An absolute disgrace when there are people living rough on our streets and people affected by the cost of living with not being able to afford the basics with gas and electricity sky high.

What an absolute waste of tax payers money!

High time more people stood up to this shit show and abolished the royal family!

And you feel this will justify it?

What about all the money being spent on renovating Buckingham palace and the Charles’ coronation then?

If both of those costs together add up to less than £800m which seems highly likely (if the cost for the funeral was £160m then it seems reasonable to say the Coronation would be about similar I suggest and I doubt the renovation work would cost anything like the remaining £800m) then having a royal family would seem to bring in more to the country than the expense of having them.

And it isn't every year we have the death of a monarch and the coronation of the next to pay for.

If you want to get rid of the royals, then fair enough but the argument for doing so being based on finance simply doesn't seem to be justified right now.   Maybe when people stop coming to the country to see the royals and spend their money as tourists on the UK economy then this particular reason would be justified but at the moment the experts calculate that the royals bring in more money than it costs to have them.

Also fwiw if we do away with the constitutional head of the country and elect someone else (almost certainly a politician) who would we end up with as the last nationally elected people the country voted for was Boris Johnson, Teresa May before him and David Cameron before her - and the last unelected nationally but voted by the Tory Party members was Rishi and Liz Truss before him.

Given that choice I'd prefer to stay with the Queen and now Charles - wouldn't you?
