Wanderers have added more Premier League pedigree to their squad with the loan capture of midfield man Paris Maghoma.
The 22-year-old has joined the Whites on a season-long loan from Brentford to become Wanderers’ eighth signing of the summer transfer window ahead of Saturday’s League One opener against Lincoln City.
His signing follows the recent arrival of forward Carlos Mendes Gomes from fellow top-flight outfit Luton Town and will further enhance the options in Ian Evatt’s squad as a highly technical central midfield player who will bring added guile and competition to the midfield department.
Maghoma – who came through the Academy set-up at Tottenham Hotspur and has been capped by England at up to U20 level – is yet to make a senior appearance for Brentford since signing from Spurs in August, 2020.
However, he was a key part of Brentford’s successful B Team set-up before graduating to the Bees’ first-team squad ahead of loan moves last season to AFC Wimbledon and MK Dons.
The midfielder made a total of 24 appearances for League Two Wimbledon before moving up a division with MK Dons for the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.
Enfield-born Maghoma – whose brothers Jacques and Christian both played in the EFL – made 19 starts in League One and now gets the chance to progress further with Wanderers.
“He’s someone we’ve monitored closely throughout his loans and we’re delighted to have him with us,” said Whites’ boss Evatt.
“He’s got an excellent background in terms of where he has started his career and then gained really good experience last season, including a significant number of games in League One.
“He has got a bit of everything and will strengthen our midfield options and add to the competition for places going into the season.”
Maghoma trained with his new team-mates on Monday and will wear squad number 19 with the Whites.
