Another one is 96 Tears by ? and the Mysterians. The title track is pure unadulterated pop and figured highly in the Ultimate Jukebox as drawn up by Mojo.

Saw 10 cc in 76 at Torquay Town Hall, me and Mrs Kitchen danced all night on a window sill! Top drawer!!Angry Dad wrote:I would have said a 10cc album either sheet music or The original soundtrack or How Dare you,but they are classed as an art rock band so that's not pop is it? Sounds like pop but it does fuckin rock ie Rubber Bullets. I have those albums. One night in Paris is my favourite track ,fuck Bohemian Rapsody. I can't find an all pop album ,closest would be ABBA I guess. My favourite if it is so called pop would be 200km in the wrong lane by t.A.T.u ,bought it in Florida about 2002 ish much to the disgust of my kids and wife. Did things for me big time.

Pepper is not a pop album for fucks sake, pet sounds is not in the same league as pepper. Brian Wilson said he gave up when he heard pepper as he could never beat it.

Pepper is a classic but it's still pop.
In the sixties there was a lot of great popular music (pop) but I was in my teens then. Nowadays I don't hear anything in popular music that I would call even good but now I'm 62. I suspect your age when you hear it might be relevant.

The Beach Boys were way better than The Beatles. People in the UK just can't accept this for some reason.

With hindsight Pepper is rock. At the time it was released it was pop.

I know it's an insult! That why I said it!! They were vastly overrated IMHO. Right place at the right time. They also had a shite drummer.Angry Dad wrote:Boy bands are not musicians and are manufactured, that's an insult to the Beatles.Soul Kitchen wrote:The Beatles were the first boy band!
The other three weren't exactly top of the tree in their own musical spheres although there are millions of musical retards who will disagree.

Michael Jackson was the King of Pop. He had some questionable habits but he knew how to churn out hits.

When I was growing up The Beatles were something special remember seeing them singing "Love Me Do" on tv, loved all their early stuff... pop for me would be Cliff Richard, The Searchers, Bay City Rollers, The Monkee's and a group called The Bangles with their album "Different Light" Manic Monday being one of the songs on there

Angry Dad you bellend, The Beatles lyrics were hardly cutting edge. Any fool could have come up with them given a pen and a few spare hours. She's got a ticket to ride.....fecking genius or what. I think she's not got the right change so she won't be riding would have been better though.

And you are just an angry old man sucked in by the mass hysteria of the Beatles! What a gas!!
Quite fitting that Zak Starkey is a better drummer than his dad, probably because he was taught the art by a better drummer than his dad.

If you look around at the time there was a gentlemen in another group that could knock spots off Lennon and McDuffer with his stories. I don't need to tell you who it is Angry Daddy cos I know fuck all and you'll already know!
