As far as I am concerned, Ricardo Gardner will always be in the same mould as Kevin Davies and Jussi. They gave their all for the Wanderers cause. Anyone who has the audacity to slag Gardner off for his time in a Bolton shirt, is a twat in my opinion.

Spot on.

He played over 400 games I think.

You both could be right depending on what exactly you meant!

Gardner played 348 league games - 287 starts, 61 subs and 410 in total 341 starts and 69 subs.

So well done to both of you I guess!

Seconded.

Although, Bibi is long past his best now and I doubt he'll get much game time at the Spammers. I wonder how much he is getting a week to probably not play. I hope it's loads and the Wet Spam mob are as pissed off as can be about it.

On his day, yes. But how often was it his day? Too often he flattered to deceive.

It's laughable how easy it is to become a "legend" these days. Yes, he stuck around for 400 games which is rare in the modern game, but let's remember he was getting paid fooking big bucks to do it. And as he spent half the time injured he was on a bloody good deal at Bolton.

I have no doubt some Wanderers fans think Stuart Holden is a legend.

Give him time and he may turn out to be one.

True, he could turn out to be the biggest waste of money in our history.

He's miles better than Dean Holdsworth.

Holden with the performances he has already put in for the club (when fit) he has already done more for us than some.

He was a technically great player and will hopefully continue to be.

Gardner was a good servant to the club, yes he was injury prone, but he was a decent player when fit.

I do agree with the Legend thing though, it gets banded about far too often and easily these days.

Making a quality left-back out of an attacking midfielder is no mean feat. Having a player who is willing to play anywhere he is asked to and gives 100% each time? Priceless. What position was he asked to play against Bayern Munich when he scored that goal that ultimately saw us get a draw against all odds? Anyone who says anything bad about Bibi can bugger off, in my humble opinion.

Mark Winstanley once scored a 35 yard rocket against Wrexham that ultimately helped us get to Wembley in the Sherpa Van Trophy (or whatever it was called that year). Is he a legend? Of course not.

Bibi was a great player for us. One of my favourites. But he has passed it now, sadly

Thing about Ricardo was his pace and unpredictable gangly style of running. Sometimes he'd run into dead ends, sometimes he'd confuse his own teammates and sometimes he'd confuse the opposition. I thought he was great but/because you could never tell what he was going to do. Alonso is similar.
He has been a great servant to the club and I will always be grateful for that.

I can't have a bad word to say about Ricardo, gave his all for the club, never moaned about playing in a unfamiliar position when asked to move from left wing to left back and then into central of midfield.

Ok he wasn't world class but he gave us something different whenever he played, just a shame his legs were a bit unreliable, injury prone sadly but still a Bolton legend in my eyes, oh and a nice lad off the field too.

:good:

He had a couple of decent games for us in the center of midfield during the Megson days also.

Edit: Damn! Beaten by Aaron.

The frustrating thing about ricci g was his end product, especially his wayward crosses

I didn't say Bibi was a legend, just that he doesn't deserve every mention of his time with us to include injuries. He was an excellent professional for Bolton and deserves far more respect than he seems to be given. Natasha Whittam scored a 25 yard volley at Deepdale for the Pentwortham Girls School (if memory serves) and seems to have obtained legendary status as a result, so probably Mark Winstanley is a legend as well! Cool

His own goal against Liverpool meant we got to go to Anfield for the White Hot 2-0 win.

Winstanley deserves to be called a legend just for that.
