What do you do when you're on the move and you need to send an email.

I have never sent an e-mail "on the move" in my life. My staff know only to ring me if it's life or death. I hate being contacted.

Yeah, you gotta keep a clear line for your clients haven't you, Naughty Nat?

My clients ring an 0844 number.

Apple have not come up with anything innovative for quite a number of years now and, to be fair, the latest editions of i-this that and the other are nowhere near as good as they should be.

I prefer Amazon's Kindle.
I prefer HTC and Samsung than a iPhone
I prefer blackberry's new tablets compared to Ipads

etc etc etc

Yes we live in a technological world but at least I can still do mental arithmatic without using a calculator!!!

Are you taking the piss??? I don't give a shit about technology, especially on this thread. Shove that Kindle up your arse.

My feelings are mixed on tech.

One thing I hate is the way social media is going. It's fine to have facebook as a way to keep in touch with people in a new way but I am fed up with everyone having to share everything...

And I don't mean sharing info about their life, I mean... for example, the new ps4 has a SHARE button on it. I friggin button just to upload a video of your shitty gameplay to a social network. It's as though social networks are being rammed down our throats.

I downloaded Itunes, signed up and everything and after PAYING to download an episode of a TV show I missed. I found to my horror, I could only play it via their own media player. It wouldn't go on my HTC phone, or on my PS3 or even my external hard drive to play on the TV. What a load of bollocks and a complete rip off.

I will never give Apple another penny.

I do want a tablet though and I have seen an Acer that I like, however you can't seem to buy the things anywhere. "Sold out" this and "Out of stock" that....

My take on this is that technology is awesome, I mean come on nat you would be lost without the Internet as would most people. Seriously what did people do on am evening in the 80s without mobile phones, Internet, satellite tv?

But my problem with technology is that it's killing employment. Office work especially with computers and software means so many staff are no longer needed. The post office has had to shed crazy number of jobs over the years in closing post offices and fewer letters because of technology. Shops are disappearing. Seriously, at the rate technology is going will the number of jobs will decrease whilst the population increases and people have to work longer.

They watched tv, read books/magazines, played games, went outside!

Technology has created a generation of fat dumb pale bastards. Have you checked the mirror lately MB?

You slag.
I do agree with you though that people have so much entertainment at home now, no one gets good memories from staying at home watching tv, on the net, playing computer games.
I know I don't get out enough but at our age it's hard having a good social life when one is single when most others have settled down.

You're single because you spend too much time on your laptop/ipod/iphone etc.

Go for a long walk every night. Whistle a lot. Smile at everyone you meet. Isn't that a better way to create memories?

I dont.

Becasue they are shit.

Anything from apple is just well marketed crap - you pay a premium for the item (phone, I pad, Ipod) and then you have to pay yet more and more money to the apple corp to put anything on the bloody thing!

Android is the way forward with mobile tech.

and just be honest don't give me a made up load of bull like "never had one."

It's a Nokia, got it free 3 years ago when I took out an 18 month contract with Virgin Mobile.

It's not slim, I can't have sex with it, it isn't smart in any way. But you know what, I can ring people on it!

I think your lying.

Any high flying businesswoman would have a blackberry.

Hell, even I have one for work. Blackberry's are the corporate phones of the 21st century.

I share these concerns.

You only have to look at most provincial towns centers and look at the number of shops that are closing.

This is because consumers are looking online for their clothing, electrical equipment and media now - its cheaper and better deals can be had, also - why would you want to go out in the cold and wet when you can sit at home and buy music/clothing etc when you can get it cheaper sat in your boxers in your living room.

I even do my main food shopping online now with Tesco.

The world is slowly moving towards online shopping - businesses are realizing this and having to cut costs accordingly.

I fear Boltons town center (along with many others) will soon just be a place where town halls and pubs are.

I Dont even buy a newspaper anymore, I get my news online.

Saying that look at my avatar and even that shows a Blackberry!

I use it for business - for instant emails, texts, internet - infact for what I do whilst travelling from/to London it is essential for my work.

Technology has also made anyone born in the last 20 years a dumb bastard. They can't speak or write in proper English, they have no social skills, and they have no general knowledge unless it relates to other iTwats.

Nat - If your 'scared' of modern technology and the way its taking over the world, seriously - watch Charlie Brookers 'Black Mirror'

Its quite disturbing actually.

Think what you want. I'm not one of these lemmings that has to have the latest phone or gadget. I need a phone in case of emergency.

Now that's a good point JJ. I use LinkedIn/Twitter/FB for business but am getting pissed off with it. Most threads on LI in particular are hijacked with people selling stuff and you can waste as much time as we do on here without getting any actual business from it. Plus the SEO spam is annoying.
Then's there's the big brother stuff. I have my personal account, my work account and my business account (for a web business I run on the side) and as social media was hyped as the way forward for business I have LI, Twitter and FB for all 3. So I opened a Twitter account for one business and it imported my FB personal details - which I didn't want to share. One helluva battle to maintain separate identities these days.
