Interesting slant on another forum asking why certain posters left, my question is, could you leave a forum because certain posters pissed you off, sometimes mods piss you off(ahem) BDP, sometimes bullshitters piss you off, at other times bullying piss you off, even female impersonators have led to a certain big sombrero to leave a forum, my point is if you can't take banter then fuck off, and leave the banter to those who can, dwarf porn is not that hard to find.
Could nutters make you leave a forum.

You know, you're perfectly correct - I'm off to find some dwarf porn. But seriously, while banter is fine, posters who make it their point of duty to pick arguments with you and who go out of their way to offend you, get really tiresome, really quickly. There comes a time when it lessens your fun of discussing Bolton and general issues to the point where you know it's time to move on. Granted, the internet is a wide open place - so if the person or persons who pissed you off in the first place know where you have gone, they can follow - and unless you are willing to be hounded off the internet entirely, at some point you may have to make the decision to track someone down and talk to their boss about how much time is spent abusing you on the internet during work hours.
Not that I have ever done so, of course. I am always amused at those who love to dish it out and when the shoe is on the other foot, can't take it.

It's the nutters that attract me to forums.

Mods editing posts because they think it's funny is not acceptable. Especially when they're edited to something which is equally offensive. Why edit it in the first place?
Keegans 'threat' to contact peoples employers won't do the site much good btw.

How anyone can get upset with someone they've never seen or met is beyond me, unless you're pre teen.
If you are thinking about leaving Because of something so small then you need to grow up

We are all different - some can take a joke, some can't and some don't even see the joke at all!
Some people are easy going, some are serious.
Some let things lay and some people will never forget (or forgive).
There is a saying 'birds of a feather flock together' and I think that is very true of forums, where people of like minds tend to collect together on specific forums. That's good for them no doubt but doesn't half puts off everyone else that doesn't think that way.
I believe the best forums need to cater for all sorts of different people and their views but also have to step in when things go that bit too far.
I don't like some of the stuff that goes on here but it is clear that others do, so I let most things go but every now and again some posters need to be reminded where the line is and that they've crossed it by a long way.
We don't want this place to be full of nutters - then again we don't want the place to have no nutters at all. We don't want the place to be abusive but then again we want people to have a laugh. We don't want posts that discuss everything to the last dotted 'i' or crossed 't' but then again we want serious discussions on here along with the not so serious ones!
It's kind of like a balancing act and can be quite difficult to achieve at times - but it is well worth it when we do get it right.
We don't want anybody to leave our forum if we can somehow prevent it some how - so if you are unhappy about something or other then please don't simply slip away and leave, contact me or one of the other mods and we will endeavour our best to get back to the point where everybody is happy again.
Fair enough?

Is this Amos character for real? Surely no one goes on a public forum and tells complete strangers their life story? I often expect to log on and find he's posted his credit card number and pin.

Yes but they were in the majority there, they're in the minority here.

There was nothing worse than friendly banter between the clubs until Coyle jumped ship and then it was the Burnley fans who started all the nonsense. Sure there were a few that rose to the bait, but if anyone deserves legislating against for "hate crimes against the Burnley fans" you should look no further than your Board (and from memory, your caterers)Copper Dragon wrote:I know and I'm trying to get the law changed on here for the hate crimes against Burnley fans.

Racist jokes are unacceptable. To make racist jokes and think that is funny but editing an already admittedly offensive post to another is unacceptable just makes you a hypocrite.

It makes you the hypocrite.
Play the race card though.
That's always a winner.

I never edit an offensive post to an equally offensive one. If I do edit a post, it is to either remove the offensive bit or to remove the post entirely. As it relates to my mention of calling someone's employer, it is with regards to a situation that I was made aware of where some guy said his employer was contacted and told that he had been spending his work days on forums bullying people. He apparently made a big fuss about it, but this story unfolded on forums that I don't visit so I couldn't give you any more details, sorry. I don't see how that could be construed as a threat by any means, but rest assured that it was not. As to 'playing the race card', offensive behaviour is simply that. If you want to split hairs, go right ahead.
