Ok, so it wasn't actually me but it was a hilarious "story" in The Sun I was forced to read in the dentists waiting room this morning.

45 year old Kevin Waldrum spent 22 hours a day (at £2 per minute) on Studio 66 chatlines all because his girlfriend dumped him. He was shocked to receive a bill for £91k from Vodaphone and has, of course, blamed them for letting him spend so much.

And in a shocking statement he claims the girls are not as they seem on the adverts and 95% of the stuff they say is designed to keep you on the line. Only 95% Kevin?

Just another case of a dumb bastard who can't think for himself.

Another laughable "story" in The Sun was a 32 year old guy who was about to commit suicide, he'd written his suicide note and sent a text to all his friends telling them he was topping himself....as he was walking to the bathroom to get the pills he stood on the tv remote and it managed to turn the TV and DVD player on to "The Office". He then watched the whole series and decided life was great after all! He no longer expects to kill himself.

Don't you agree that society would be a better place if the chatline guy was euthanized and The Office fan had been allowed to top himself?

I can understand the chatline guy going to the papers, he has a £91k phonebill to pay and I'm sure The Sun are paying him a few thousand quid to look stupid.

But the suicide guy must be desperate for cash if he wants to tell the world he was going to kill himself but was saved by Ricky Gervais.

I'm more interested in the "girlfriend dumped me angle". Why would anyone want to top themselves just because they got ditched? And why would you spend £91k on phonecalls, that sort of cash would keep you in hookers for years.

I suspect Amos is the man to answer these questions.

I was once hooked on these chatlines, one bill I received was for over £3000. But there was a happy ending to the story, I ended up banging her in the bogs at the Trafford Centre Travelodge.
