I don't know who Dave is but I'll answer anyway...

He's not the kind of signing Dougie will make. We're releasing our 36 year old captain. I doubt we'll replace him with a 36 year old.

Plus he's a dmb and his brother is a cunt and his Dad is going jail for being a sex pest.

That's a good reason.

You have to have some experience, you win nowt with kids. I reckon it'd be a great signing for a year or two.

At this moment in time a captain is more important than a new striker/midfielder/defender.

Medo might be a good captain next season.

It has to be a player who is guaranteed a first team place, and in my opinion it should be a defender.

Phil Neville has been playing in midfield for years now.

And I doubt he'd play every week.

Phil Neville's time has past, we need to find hungry players who want to make their mark. Won't happen in any case but but this would be a sideways step at best.

We'd get maybe half a season out of him anyway, let's go and find a leader for ourselves.

He's 36, not 46.

He's captain of a top 6 PL team managed by one of the best managers out there - but you reckon he's got less than a season in him at a lower level?

Idiot.

Who's to say we'll be lower level next season anyway?

But assuming we are, very few midfielders go on beyond 35 never mind 36.

If they are very high quality they can (Hierro for instance) but Phil Neville? Clearly not.

As you say one of the best managers out there has deemed him not good enough to continue so that says to me his legs have gone and forget it I didn't rate him that highly in his prime I see no reason why he'd be some sort of saviour for us now.

I agree with Scott, Medo should be captain next season, but I think we all know it will be Knight.

Craig Dawson to be captain next season... oh yes, that means I agree with Nat that we should buy him for whatever it takes!

Just for the sake of argument I'm not sure why you even need a Captain.
SKD has been captain and I can't remember a single incident were he shouted at a bloke for a bad pass, took charge of a free kick situation.....screamed at the team to put more effort in...etc.... Fat boy Nolen at least had some fury in him.
