How do all you guys like to keep in shape? Do you go to the gym, play sports? I know a few of you go for walks - do you find that keeps you fit and healthy.

In the last 12 months I have made a conscience effort to exercise more, usually by going to the gym 2-3 times a week. It has certainly helped.

I also take more care in what I eat. 12 months ago I would eat whatever I wanted without a second thought, now I try and choose a healthy(ish) dinner, have a normal tea (no restrictions) and snacks are replaced with fruit. I do treat myself every now and again.

My doctor told me that if I ever felt the need for exercise that I should just and have a lie down until the feeling passes.

The rule is - everything in moderation.

It doesn't matter what it is.

Natural exercise and a decent balanced diet.

I've got to near 14 stone, that's because I don't practice what I preach.

This specialised gym, would that be a hidden camera in your bedroom, and your gym in next room, by that I obviously mean your wanking room, watching your Missus munch rug?

I prefer running tbh, I take some gaspari superpump and beast the roads.

I also like the exercise bike, but the only problem with that is after half hour, it bores me to tears, you've got to proper switch off, that's when I love to listen to music.

Fast walking is good, pull ups are good too, you can get a bar fit it in between your door frame at the top, then make it a rule that every time you walk through the door you have to hit a few pull ups, you'll soon get fit.

Gym 6 times a week. I know it works because I've won "Preston Body of the Year" three years running.

I've always been active. I walk the dog daily, go to the gym daily, play sports, do circuit training every week.
I've found exercise is vastly overrated in terms of weight control. I'm only ever in shape when my eating is reasonable, regardless of how much exercise I do.

Whatever you do, it has to be something you can sustain. It makes me laugh people going on these crazy diets. You could lose most your body weight on 600 calories a day, but it's only a matter of time before you lose the will and pile it back on and more. I follow Paul McKenna's methodology of eating what you want, in portions relative to hunger. Calorie counting is a waste of time and energy.

Sounds about right to me, exercise does nothing for my weight only light eating does it.

If you burn more calories than you eat then you'll lose weight.

Exercise is not overrated.

I don't exercise apart from taking some long walks occasionally but I do watch my weight. I've never dieted before but for the last 9 months I've been on the 5:2 diet. Eat normally 5 days a week and on 2 days restrict your calories to 600. I've lost 2 stone and never felt better.

Exercise is not overrated.

Not true. Some people put on weight so easily and find it impossible to get rid of.

A good 1 hour intense work out you can burn 1000 calories. Lay of the cream cakes and hey presto.
