Well after last nights game it seems we are going to be struggling to have an english team in the next round of the Cleague.

Is the standard of the english game on its arse at the moment or do we still have the best league in the world like pundits like to make out.

The Italian teams look the real deal this season and the germans look to have got their acts together again after a few years in the wilderness.

1996 is the last time no english club made the quarter finals. Juventus won it that year.

Just goes to show how the EPL has slipped relatively in the last couple of years.

It shows that them clubs have performed badly this year. Nothing else.

how can you judge the whole league based on the fact UTD can't get up for a game against Basle.

I agree with wanderlust, the PL is nowhere near as good as it was 2 or 3 years ago.

Well clubs like Arsenal and Everton, Villa are down but clubs like Spurs, City Newcastle and Sunderland are up. And Norwich, Swansea and the investment in QPR has made the league much stronger.

There's no way Swansea are worse than Blackpool or the other chuff thats come up in recent years.

The league is just as "strong" as ever. But the champions league isn't a good barometer.

You judge the quality of a league by its strongest teams.

How does that gauge the quality of the league as a whole?
