He looked good when on loan at Everton. It's the kind of quality signing I am hoping we'll make.

Is this the guy that ran in a straight line a lot and was always on the bench?

Jesus, he has fallen from grace since signing for Real Madrid. Should be a class signing at this level.

You're thinking of Royston Vasey.

Decent player but I think he will turn out to be a martin petrov type player who will go missing on a cold December night at Yeovil.

I don't think that you'll ever see Chubby Brown run, let alone in a straight line.

He runs (and looks a bit) like Ricardo, falls over a lot but scores some spectacular goals. Plays LB or left wing and is quick. The general point is that there will be several contenders for promotion next season and they're gearing up for it. We will need to improve on last season quite a bit IMO.

Lets be honest though, last season they were saying ourselves, blackburn and Wolves would "contend" and that us or Wolves would win it easy.

True. You never know how "established, proven" players are going to perform over a season and all 3 teams mentioned had plenty of them. To me, it makes a case for staying well away from "established, proven" players in the transfer market, as they always come with a heavy price tag and trade on their past glories. Outstanding player for Rovers was Rhodes who hadn't played at this level before. We started with Andrews and Petrov and look what happened to them.

Ha ha, so we should buy players with no track record and no glories? Why not buy all of the Bamber Bridge squad then?

I think he's saying there's no guarantees.

And he is quite correct. The club should be looking at bringing more players in through the youth academy. That's what it's supposed to be there for in the first place.

I know what he's saying, but he's wrong.
You need experienced players - people like to use Cardiff as a benchmark, they had their fair share of older heads...Bellamy, Whittingham etc.

You could use Cardiff, or you could use us, Blackburn and Wolves.

So where's this team that got promoted with no experienced players?

where is anyone saying you should have NO experienced players.
I think the suggestion was just signing "old heads" is no guarantee of promotion, thats it.

I don't think a 29 year old is an old head.
