Anelka - worth a punt?

Nicolas Anelka is odds-on to join West Brom following a string of maximum bets on the Frenchman making the move to the Hawthorns.

Anelka endured an unhappy spell with Shanghai Shenhua before joining Juventus on loan last term.

And he is now thought to be keen on a move back to the Premier League, with West Ham having also been linked with the former Arsenal and Chelsea man earlier this summer.

He is a good player but he is just a mercenary. His brother acts as his agent and I'm surprised managers haven't cottoned on to the Anelka syndrome. He really doesn't give a fuck whose shirt he wears as long as the money goes in his bank account. I can't think of another player who has played for so many top class clubs and then pissed off elsewhere as soon as he got a better deal.

I was going to most games when he was around and i loved watching him play.

He is certainly not a team player. He didn't earn the nickname of 'Le Sulk ' for nothing. I heard that when he was at Man City he never spoke in the dressing room and never mixed with the other players.

Remember him at Chelsea, when he came on as a sub for the European Cup final and missed his penalty? The Chelsea players didn't exactly swarm all over him to offer their condolences.
