I guess that most of the regular non (or very few post) posters just view on here but post on their 'home' forums - nothing wrong with that, I do the same myself but its the ones that seem happy not to post when their 'home' forum is dead or dying that I can't understand.
Take JA606 for instance.
A number of people regularly post on their match thread (they clearly have not used our 'Chatbox' live radio update match service). However that apart, in the last few months the site as been so dead that several of the threads were being started to links to other sites giving wrong or out of date information.
JA606 were one of the few sites to be decent to us when we first started up, so I posted them an invite to browse our site if they so wished and take any breaking news that we had as a basis for them to start threads back over on 606.
Even after my offer fewer and fewer posts have been made - so what as happened to these people? Clearly they have an interest in our club, clearly they can and do chat about it around match day but obviously they don't seem to want to share their news and views anytime else?
A number of people who they know from 606 are regulars on here such as OneFinFreedman, Norpig, Reebok Rebel, etc, some such as JAH are beginning to post more regularly but the rest don't seem to want to join in (not just on here but every other BWFC forum also).
Surely it would be better for everyone - both them and us - if they would contribute their views and opinions on all things BWFC (and anything else to if they wished) - rather than save their comments for a 'their' forum, which is basically dead at the moment.
There's no law about saving your thoughts just for one particular forum.
If nothing is happening on your home forum (and you don't want to take the lead in making something happen on there) - then why not join in with other some place else until 'your' forum picks up again.
If and when it does you will then have two places to choose to post on and be welcomed on, if you want!
Maybe it is a reluctance to get involved in discussion with one or two particular posters we have on here / on another forum - if that's the case just post and ignore and don't rise to any bullshit they may post to try to get you to 'bite'.
There's a lot of good and well respected posters on here, if it is the muppets that may be putting you off from posting - then don't let them!
A forum is only as good as its posters - if we all just simply 'viewed' instead of 'posting' - then we would quickly find ourselves in the same position as bb, Mavies, etc find themselves in now.
The more people who get involved in a forum - particularly if there is a mix of views and opinions - the better it is for everyone.
At the end of the day we are all here just for the one reason - Bolton Wanderers. Might as well voice your thoughts, fears, hopes, disappointment, elation, etc, otherwise what is the point coming on to a forum at all - you might as well just follow the clubs official site (and twitter and facebook accounts) because that is the only place that anyone knows for certain what is happening at the club - the rest (including this forum) is simply a group of mainly blokes having a good chat and a few laughs amongst ourselves.
Anybody reading this who doesn't post, why not give it a try - you are after all amongst friends all wanting the club to do well.
Go on, give it a go - it doesn't cost anything and you may actually like it too!
