Coyle won't be sacked if we go down, gartside must still have faith in coyle or he would have gone by now and the fact he managed to get Burnley promoted will go in his favour.

If his contract is really up in the summer then I would expect him to leave by 'mutual' concent.

Hence the reasoning for not removing him now, as why waste money on paying him off when we will just not renew his contract - cheaper for the club
Although, saying that its cheaper in the short-term, albeit if/when we do go down it will be a case of fools-folly as it will cost us a lot more to get back into the Prem, and the parachute money will only go so far...
