What were your parents like to you,did they do a good job and treat you right or did you maybe not like them or one of them or did they or one of them mistreat you or were you bad to them.I had one good and one bad but i will go into that later when i see what kind of response this gets.

"They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.
But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another's throats.
Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don't have any kids yourself."
- Philip Larkin, 1971

Mine were absolutely superb. I only wish I'd been as good a parent to my own kids.

Both good. To this day I am still amazed that they were able to raise four children with very little money.

Both of mine were good. I'm one of 5, and we've all turned out ok, I suppose. Never had a lot of cash or things, but they did what they could, and looked after us. Both gone now, but I have no bad memories of either.

Mum was a saint,He was a lazy, selfish, brutal maniac that beat her senseless and subjected his children to mental abuse.Example we had jam and bread for dinner while he had steak, eggs, onions, liver and chips which as small kids we all had to sit on the sofa and watch him eat then he would call us to the table and wave a forkfull under our noses. We had to scrub the back yard clean and he,d inspect it before we had our food.I couldn,t walk for a week after he kicked me in the kidney,s.When i was off school in bed with a fever it was pouring down in winter and he made mum get me up to walk two miles to get some nails, when i got back he said wrong size off you go again. He was obssessed with the nazis and Hitler books everywhere especially what the german troops did to women. I Guess i pulled the short straw in the old man stakes.

Don't know if your story is true or not Angry Dad but the sad thing is that similar and far, far worse really do happen in real life.
I can't comprehend it myself. Even if the kid isn't yours (a stepchild for instance) how can people treat children so shockingly - how can the mother watch her child suffer?
Baby P's mum let two peados have their way with him - how the fuck could she?
I still remember the Maria Caldwell inquiry and that was 40 years ago.
Suffer the little children the good book says.

Its true sadly and im the only one of five kids that came out of it with minimal damage mine being anxiety and panic attacks since childhood.Watching your mum being beaten unconcious with a heavy kettle and being too small to do anything about it other than make a mess in your pants was horrifying.I was the oldest and got picked on most, thing is when i was big enough to do the B@stard he was ill and old and i didnt. These things i disscribe are some of the not so bad stuff, there was a lot worse .Sluffy wrote:Don't know if your story is true or not Angry Dad but the sad thing is that similar and far, far worse really do happen in real life.

That is some serious shit you have had to deal with. I suspect you came out of your childhood all the more stronger for your terrible upbringing. They say that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I do hope so.

I don't want a Christmas with fake family cheer,
I want a family who loves me all year.
I am not your cleaner or prize to show off,
I have feelings and thoughts but you brush them off.
When I do your bidding I'm looking for praise,
It's not good enough and you turn away.
When I am crying a cuddle would save me,
but you keep your distance,
You don't really love me.
