Midfielder earns his place in top three of local gong
Jay Spearing has been shortlisted for the Championship Player of the Year accolade at the upcoming North West Football Awards.
The club's own Player of the Year during the 2012/13 campaign, the tenacious midfielder impressed during his initial loan spell at the Reebok Stadium last season before signing permanently in the summer.
Having been whittled down from an extended list of nominations, Spearing will now battle it out with Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes and Blackpool winger Thomas Ince for the title at the ceremony on November 4.
