it depends on which era you're talking about. I have heroes from the old 3rd and 4th Division days like Robbie Savage, John Thomas, Trevor Morgan and Scott Green. They probably wouldn't be classed as greats but they great for us at that level.
After that it would be McGinlay,Walker and Gudni from the next era and then from our Premiership days Campo and Youri were my favourites

I'm pretty sure Diouf did the same in Manchester?

If I'd been there he would have received the same treatment I gave Stelios.

Trust me, Stelios hasn't been near a disabled bay since he saw me.

Diouf seems to like getting parking fines for various reasons!

I saw him filling his chrome Mercedes up with petrol (before he joined those inbreds and changing it to blue and white!) at the Shell garage on Wigan road next to Barton Grange gardening centre, didn't get too close in case he started spitting at everyone. Laughing

Older generation selections from TigerMin. From the same era, John Ritson, Peter Reid, Neil Whatmore, Paul Jones, Tony Dunne.

Was a good keeper Branagan. Played for us around 8 years, now part of the Bolton behind the scenes?

Sorry but Tony Dunne was a Utd. has-been and a bit of a plodder.

Was good in his prime but no more than average for BWFC.

Maybe in your opinion.

Certainly not in mine.

Where do you think Allardyce got the idea of bringing in old super stars for the last few years of their career?  It was from Jimmy Armfield bringing in Dunne, Thompson and Charlie Hurley to add to a team of youth - the likes of Paul Jones, Whatmore, Reid and Allardyce himself later on.

Dunne was a different class defensively than anyone I had ever seen before then - his ability to read a game a be in the right position at the right time was amazing to see.

About 40 years ago now that he was playing for us - where have all those years gone?

Largely agree with Sluffy's comments however would correct him on the issue of Charlie Hurley who joined the club some years before Armfield and left before his appointment. Armfield's early teams were built round the experience of John Hulme at centre half and Warwick Rimmer along side him, not to forget John Byrom and Charley Wright. youth in the shape of Paul Jones, Don McAllister, Garry Jones, Peter Nicholson, Stuart Lee and Alan Waldron were introduced to support the mid range experience of John Ritson, Roy Greaves and Ronnie Phillips. Those others mentioned by Sluffy came a little later. Loved that team!
