Firemen - Do You Give a Shit About Them?

Obviously, we do need Firemen, but I think that their pay and cushy pensions are a little ott. I know they have quite a lot of training to complete and they might have to deal in inflammable chemicals, once in every 10 years or so.

A lad that I went to college with, ended up being a Fireman and I met him in a pub in Culcheth, that used to be called Rakes, a few years after college, he said that he just kicked a football around most of the day and he had only put one fire out in 6 months or so, after joining.

The best man at my wedding, he joined the Navy, at the ripe old age of 29 and he ended up being a fire fighter after, initially enrolling as a Aircraft handler and he says it's the easiest job in the world! I mean, how many fires does somebody in the Navy put out?

He emails me every so often, from around the world, telling me what birds he's been shagging and how much cake and tea he's been drinking, whilst he's hard at work, whilst I pay his wages, the bastard!

The thing about the fire brigade is that they are reactive rather than proactive. They don't drive around in the early hours of the morning looking for fires to put out. The role of the police and the paramedics is slightly different because they are required to be out on the streets patrolling the towns and streets when the clubs and pubs spill out their detritus in the wee small hours. Unless there is a fire, there is no need for Fireman Sam and his buddies to stir from their beds at the fire station and don their tunics.

Apparently 70 percent of firemen are fucked at 60 and fail the fitness test. Fail the fitness test and you are out!! They signed up for the conditions, why should they lose out while bankers and politicians make a bollox of the country?
