Liam Feeney will be out to end Wanderers’ six-game unbeaten run on Saturday – but the former loanee expects happier times ahead for the Whites.
All eyes will be on the livewire winger if he takes the field for Millwall at the Reebok just a couple of weeks after his shock return to The Den.
He may only have played four games but the 26-year-old left a lasting impression on Wanderers fans, many of whom are eager to see Dougie Freedman try to sign him permanently in January.
Feeney’s arrival at the end of September coincided with a slight upturn in results, which was extended to a six-game unbeaten run after victory at Bournemouth last weekend.
And he expects Freedman’s men to be well clear of trouble by the time the subject of his future crops up in the New Year.
“Anyone would be surprised to see Bolton at the bottom and I was no different, especially when I went up there and saw for myself how good the players and manager are on a day-to-day basis,” said the wide man, who has played two games as a substitute since returning to South London.
“We drew three of the games I played in and things weren’t falling for us.
“We didn’t concede many goals but when we did, one was an own goal and another was a bad goalkeeping mistake, so it was just one of those spells the club was going through.
“I’ve no doubts they will start to push up the table. They’ve got a really good squad so I fully expect that to shine through.
“Everyone can beat everyone in the division and it’s hard to pick to a winner before any game.”
