Bringing back quite a few memories for me this thread
Christ I bet it's over 40 years since I've heard someone mention the 'top level'.
Used to go to Gaskell Street as a kid and we had to walk to Sheperd Cross Street playing fields to play football and cricket.
And talking about Mortfield, I busted my hand there once trying to turn a big sluice gate and trapping it in the machinery somehow.
Anybody remember the ginnel next to Gaskell Street Mill? Bet most of the under 25's on here don't even know what a ginnel is!
Happy Days.

Regarding the word "ginnel", I remember being confused and a bit concerned as a child, when a neighbour of my Gran's started complaining about the local cats doing their business in her entry.
I asked my Mum but she just laughed and said she was a bit crazy.......which didn't clear things up and made me even more confused.

He can't see straight.
Have you seen his eyes?
His Sat-Nav woman says "Turn right in 150 metres" and the blind fool ploughs straight on, across a play-ground, kids diving everywhere and winds up crashed into some bins.
