CONDEMN THE GAY!

I don't give a hoot if he's gay or not, but what I don't like is how hypocritical he is, especially when I hear that he's retired, and is now looking to take forward the issue of homosexuality in football/sport.
If he felt so strongly about it, why didn't he make the effort where it would have had most effect, and that's on the field. He's done a cowardly thing, and isn't helping the gay players in the countries playing stock. Looks to me like he's looking for another lucrative job. If you were gay, would you ask him for advice?

It's a lot easier to say "why now?" when you're not the gay man that's gotta work with a set of jack the lads. The revelation that he is gay would have been a lot more useful when he was a player than it is now. He'll know that and will wish he was tough enough to have been honest about it at the time.

Is it a waste of time him coming clean about it now? No, because it still works towards quashing the myth that gays are but hairdressers and trolly dollies and is therefore a step closer to one, followed by many current players coming forward.

I don't give a damn whether a footballer is gay or not BUT after reading some of the posts on this thread I can see why he waited until after he retired to announce his sexuality - especially if he got the same sort of responses from some of his colleagues in the dressing room or on the pitch!

At what point in time was it when men of the natural persuasion were meant to see homosexuals coming out as something that should be applauded?

I'm probably branded as someone who is homophobic because I find the thought of two men in a sexual relationship quite revolting. However I don't give a monkeys what folk get up to in their own homes or what their sexual activities are, as long as it's not in public and doesn't effect me.

This is similar to me as with Robin Roberts. I didn't know who she was until her grand announcement that she is gay. Big whoop - you're an adult and you are allowed to live your life in the way you see fit. I can foresee a time when straight celebrities will come out of a closet of their own and announce that that have sex with people of the opposite sex. Speaking of which - I only recently discovered that Michael Douglas claimed to have developed cancer of the throat by giving numerous females oral sex over the years!

He's been on virtually every programme so far today, telling the world he is a homosexual.

I demand equal rights for heterosexuals. I want Zat Knight on News at Ten telling the world he is a straight ponce.
