Why do so many people say 'would of' when the correct term is 'would have'? and were did 'my bad' come from?

Why can't people grasp basic grammar? Like an apostrophe for example.
The title of this thread should be Queen's English.

' My bad ' is an American term. Another one that always baffles me is why folk say pacific when they mean specific.

Spelling and grammar is a basic function at school. Sadly standards have dropped and I can guess that some teachers fail miserably at English these days. Certainly like one teacher I know, about mid to late twenties has shocking spelling on the occasions I have seen his written efforts.
Thought English would be a requirement to enter Uni, it was when I was a lad.

We live in a multi cultural society nowadays. It's only a matter of time before Urdu becomes compulsory at school.

RT, I was a school governor for a while, the biggest problem and cost, was catering for kids who couldn't speak English. Don't know what it's like now but suspect it's worse because that was ten years ago.

That would make you redundant Natasha, how would we cope without your sarcasm and 'we are all doomed' attitude?Natasha Whittam wrote:Triumph wrote:Why do so many people say 'would of' when the correct term is 'would have'? and were did 'my bad' come from?

When I were a lad (back in the 60s) For obvious reasons It was drummed into us to keep to the left at school, have you tried walking on the left in public buildings? Impossible.

Where

We're
Weir
I have all of the above used in completely wrong contexts
Pus it does drive me up the wall when I see "should of" instead of "should have"
