Was it Wheatsheaf?
I used to go to the Church on Sunday night behind Trinity church.
Correction, the George not Wheatsheaf.

Ye, how dare they do their jobs and try to improve patients' health CNUTS.

You miss the irony. If the NHS could sort you out with a sense of humour then that would be a bigger breakthrough than Christian Barnard's feats!!

I don't think anyone could miss the irony in your statement. That doesn't automatically make it amusing though, and you clearly weren't joking.

I'm pretty sure it was the Wheatsheaf on the corner. BanksoftheCroal will know.

Maybe it's my memory but I thought the Wheatsheaf wasn't exactly on the corner - more like down a bit opposite the street where the Ancient Shep was.
Mind you, there were plenty of pubs within spitting distance of there including the Griff and the NZC so my recollection wasn't the best.
