The following report has been written by one of our members (Tuffers) on the Reebok Roar Facebook group.
Neil Danns was congratulated/thanked for signing up, asked if he celebrated with Leicester and their promotion party, he said he was happy for them, but is fully focussed on Wanderers now.
Tim Ream was asked about the WBA rumours and he confirmed that's all they were, and that he would definitely be with us next season. They talked about the young lads coming through, both said they were progressing well, a very confident bunch, have been training with the first team squad for a few weeks now and have fitted in well, good to see local lads coming through, and when given a chance they are taking it. They thought Kellett has done well, and were impressed with Threlkelds 90 mins on Sat, they think more will become more involved next season.
Someone asked about Clough's lack of opportunity, they said it maybe that the U21 coaches see him as not being quite upto where the other lads are.
Form in the last third of the season was questioned, Danns pointed to the comings and goings of players, form hitting highs and lows, he made the point of the club being in a transition and highlighted the massive changes the club is going through on and off the pitch.
Neil Danns does think next season we will be pushing harder for promotion.
They were asked about whether Juke would be with us next season, obviously they couldn't say or know much, but Ream did seem to suggest talks had taken place of some sort. The lads were then grilled by a Roar regular on the merits of 4-4-2 and on the lads team of the season. They didn't want to answer who should go into the Wanderers team of the season understandably, but Ream put up a good debate about formations, 4-4-2 working some games, and not in others, pointing out the win at the weekend was with a 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1.
Ream was asked about possible World Cup involvement, he wants to go, is desperate to go, but is waiting to find out if he will be included in the USA WC training camp squad, finds out after next week.
Asked about Holden, they said he was back and progressing well, all training room work at the moment, they seemed to think the pre-season comeback mentioned in the press earlier this week maybe a bit optimistic.
Marc Tierney is also stepping up his rehab and should be ready for the new season. They don't expect Mark Davies will be involved this Saturday so his season is effectively over, get him ready for next season.
The lads were asked about the disappearance of both Tyrone Mears and Chris Eagles, both were coy over them, and preferred not to comment. Tim Ream did eventually say he thought it was all down to a 'difference of opinion.' Presumably between the players and manager, both have obviously fallen out with the gaffer and haven't been able to back up their claims with performances in neither games or training.
I asked about what they thought was the best team performance of the season and both pointed to the Leeds away game, both also said this and the games before and after it was their highlight of the season, scoring goals and conceding so few gave the squad a huge lift and a bit of belief and confidence.
I did also ask for their best individual performances, but they were interrupted before they could answer, Ream did later tell me he felt the Charlton game was probably his best performance of the season.
Both players, who have attended BWSA evenings in the past, were once again very easy to talk to, very chatty and funny and were able to keep the banter moving along. Both very worthy winners and both very happy to be playing for Wanderers.
Local band The Jade Assembly played a short acoustic set, and although most people seemed to chat over the top of them, I liked them, very Stereophonics meets Travis. Have to say they were better in the Fanzone though, much harder edge to them when they were able to crank things up in there.
The traditional Dave Higson award was given to Andrew Dean who some of you may know. He works as the Development Manager at the club and has been their since the Burnden days, working in the offices with Nat. He spoke about his days with Nat and how everyone worked so hard to turn the club around a tricky corner. He's very proud of where they have been, where they are and where he thinks they can go in the future, he believes everything is in place with the young players, the manager, the facilities etc to get the club back in the Prem within the next 2 years.
