Until last April I was a heavy smoker - 30 a day for 25 years.

I started smoking at University when I was 18 and I can't remember why, but I wish I hadn't.

Over the years, it's affected my health and cost me thousands.

I'd never really tried to give up before because I know I haven't got the will-power.

Then last April, a bloke I worked with suggested I tried vaping instead.

And it did the trick. You get the same "hit" at the back of the throat like a real fag and you get your nicotine hit, but without all the nasty tar and smoke.

Twelve months on, I feel better, I can actually smell and taste my food properly and I've saved just over three and a half grand.

If you're a smoker and you fancy giving up, I'd definitely recommend it.

Just make sure you get your stuff from a reputable site and don't buy it from the corner shop or pub.......

Just started using one instead if smoking. You're right it's excellent, I find it keeps me awake if I smoke before I try and sleep, after a bit of research I found that's one of the effects of inhaling pure nicotine. Otherwise it's working well.

You can get all sorts of flavours, but I generally stick to Tobacco or Menthol.

I tried a cherry cola liquid once (free promo) and it was rank.

Are you using them as a replacement for fags,(cue Magoo) or a tool to you stop you smoking completely?

Purely a replacement in my case.

I did a bit of research when I started and nicotine in its pure form, is no more harmful than caffeine.

All the bad things associated with smoking (the tar, the cancer and all that stuff), is in the smoke itself and has nothing to do with the nicotine.

It's basically a way of feeding your nicotine addiction which is pretty much 99% healthier than smoking fags.

Throw in the financial benefits and it seems like a good deal all round.

And that'll do for me!

...and that's why the big tobacco companies (who also have a vested financial interest in the Nicotine Replacement industry - nicorettes and the like) are shitting themselves and trying to get them reclassified as medicinal products.

These e-cigs are taking off massively because they really do work and they stand to lose billions.

The attitude of the big tobacco companies looks pretty shabby. I think the NHS will benefit in the long term, with fewer and fewer people needing treatment for smoking related diseases. Not only that,I can leave a pub without my clothes stinking of Lambert & Butler king size.

I'm not one of those zealous ex-smokers who walks round being all smug, but even I can smell it now on people and it stinks.

I can't believe my wife (who's never smoked) put up with it for so long.

As for the big tobacco companies, they're busy lobbying the government, saying "Think about all that lovely tax revenue you'll lose if everybody packs in!" but fortunately, they keep getting stopped in the European Parliament. (Up yours Farage!)

I know a guy who smokes weed flavour vapour. Smells and tastes like weed apparently, but has zero THC.
What a twat! Draws attention to himself everywhere. And if ever there was a pointless exercise...

I managed to give up after 10 years smoking 20 a day.  Best thing I ever did.  I used patches and they worked a treat.
