How do you pronounce Bury?

Is it bury (as spelt) or Barry?

How do you pronounce Derby?

Is it Derby (as spelt) or Darby?

I pronounce as spelt. Any others you can think of?

To non-locals it is Bury, as it is spelt, otherwise it is pronounced Berry!

Westhoughton or Westhoffen?
Daubhill or Dobble?
Farnworth or shit-hole?   
Bolton or Bol'un

What about Derby?

"Bury" is actually pronounced: Small village near Bolton, populated largely by people who can't tie their own shoe-laces.

Derby is pronounced "Darby", as in "Fuckin 'ell, Neal! Get Darby off, he's shit!"

I pronounce Derby as Darby, Bury is Bury.

I tend to pronounce words as they are spelt unless otherwise advised.
Bury as in "My dear old Gran died..."
Southwell - South+Well
Derby - Darby
Buses - bwfc71

You know, the usual way.

But I think i probably converge depending on who i am talking to...

I pronounce Bury how it's written; Bury, not Berry.

I know people from Bury don't like this but it's only like how they pronounce Bolton how it's spelt, where we tend to say Bulton.

How do you pronounce Blackburn?

If it's Blackburrrrn, you know you live too close to Blackburn.
