Used to be cooker, with a Typhoo stylee "oo" but having lived in Salford for the last 15 years, it's now "cucker."
And my wife used to laugh at me and tell me there was no "w" in the middle of the word "door", so that became "dore"........

Chumlee.
I've just heard a Dutch journo talking about Van Gaal on the radio and he's the third Dutch person I've heard (Meulensteen and another journo) say the "G" as hard.
So every time I hear someone English say Van Haal, I'm going to get annoyed.
I know I am......I'm anal about stuff like that.......

Beecham, Beever, Bister, Lester and......I can't spell Slough phonetically.
You've done that on purpose, haven't you.....?
And weren't the first four Firemen in Trumpton?

Bad pronunciation can result in wrong spelling.
